Bastille , "Earth Song/Common People", Reviewed

The kiss of conformity being allowing yourself to guest on Saturday Night Live, and I am not sure if that was the right move for them. I tend to think they would have been better off in their quiet nitch. The quest for success has watered down many an act and I fear Bastille will face that fate.

Conor Oberst "Hundreds of Ways" Reviewed

It’s so positive, and his classic, iconic wavery voice is incredibly prominent and I love it. “There are hundreds of ways to get through the day, there are hundreds of ways, so just find one.” He’s releasing a solo record on May 20th, and it’s going to follow this more country-tinged direction.

The 1975 "Chocolate" Video Reviewed

There’s also no denying that the band is a quartet of extremely good-looking boys, so that’s a plus and probably is the reason for their increasing fan base. It’s obviously big-budget, and has an expansive feel.

U2's "Invisible" Pretty Good Song

Personally, I’m shocked. A good U2 song. Wow. If the rest is this good it will be their best album since All That You Can’t Leave Behind. Maybe Rolling Stone can give it 6 stars out of 5. Damn, there goes the obituary till another day.

Bayside "Time Has Come" Reviewed

Anthony’s voice is the best it’s ever been. It’s warm and lovely, and feels like a hug. That’s one thing I’ve always loved about Bayside- no matter how hard and heavy their music gets, Anthony’s voice resolves it and leaves it just a bit softer. It’s so unique and hard to pull off, but they do it perfectly.

Ronnie Radke "Already Dead" Reviewed

His voice is obnoxious even when he just speaks, and there’s absolutely no redemption. It sounds like he’s a 14 year old prepubescent kid in his basement who just got comfortable enough to swear to himself and is trying to sound cool. It’s awkward and unnatural, and I can’t stand it.

Track Review

Nothing "Bent Nail" Reviewed

It almost has the same feel as something written by Explosions In The Sky. Though Explosions is entirely instrumental, it puts the focus on musicianship in the same way Nothing does. It’s entrancing and is an aural sedative.

Walk The Moon "Quesadilla" Video Reviewed

“Piñatas, baseball bats, silly hats, weird antics- it’s whimsical and hilarious. Then once they involve silly string and water balloons, it’s a whole other story. It’s clear that they were just being themselves and enjoying being doofy with one another.”

Human Kitten "First Song (Cover)" Reviewed

“And my feelings are at the mercy of my chemical imbalances and I’m trapped inside the torture of living with bipolar disorder.” He really puts the whole ‘mental illness’ bit into an understandable and relatable light. Even the average joe who doesn’t really know much about depression or anything of the sort can get a grip on it.

Carrie Hope Fletcher's "How NOT to handle a Break Up" Reviewed

In a minute and a half, you’re sucked in and need more. The lyrics are creative, too. “It may not be the best idea to sit outside his flat or chain yourself to his front door or steal his dear old cat; he may have loved him more than you, but there’s no time for that. And do not spend all day waiting for him on Facebook chat.”

Dowsing "Amateur Cartography" Reviewed

“They’re raw and strong and feel so pure, which is hard to find. Put together, this was all it took to get me hooked on the band. Then the group vocals came in. That’s when I knew there was something special about these guys; usually group vocals sound lame or stupid, but these are great.

Ryan Ross' "You're Invited" Reviewed

“The tune “You’re Invited” is weird and almost feels creepy. The vocals are odd and choppy and mirror the techno feel that is unlike anything he’s ever done before. “My mind is playing tricks on you” has an MGMTesque vibe and it begs the question, “what the heck even happened.”…He’s so fleeting and flighty that his ambiguity can’t even be mistaken for ignorance or innocence.”

Track Review

Seahaven's "Silhouette (Latin Skin)" Reviewed

“This is much more calm than I imagined, and it’s fantastic. Now, we’ve heard the band pour their heart out in slow tunes like “Honeybee”, but never before like this. Even the guitars sound sad. The violin mixed in creates a swirling sound of encompassing warmth, like a hug. “

Track Review

Fireworks' "The Wild Bunch" Reviewed

“The guitars are tight and clean, which leaves wiggle room for David, the singer, to really experiment and it totally works out. It’s not just the music itself that’s great, it’s the lyrics too. “I stopped searching for the answers. I’ve learned my lesson ’cause time is just a rhetorical question and I came out with a bang,” is just so well written.”

Del Bel "Xmas in Prison", Reviewed

From that twangy Southern intro to the the vocal strain (and I do mean of strain) of Lisa Conway makes you want Christmas to never come. Not so you can revel in this tune a little longer-but in hopes that this would never have been created.

The Rocket Summer "Christmas Madness"

Needless to say Jesus has cancelled his birthday, Santa has called it a day and I’m going to pretend I never heard this. But seriously folks, this is one of the worse Christmas songs ever.. far worse than even Dominick The Donkey.

Track Review

Bruce Springsteen's "High Hopes" Reviewed

Really, this is an amazingly lame little track, who exactly is he singing for? It is so generic it could be for really any one and it is so unspecified it seems like a general complaint about nothing. The song itself isn’t fully formed: it doesn’t coalesce in your ear.

Track Review

Seahaven's "PV" Reviewed

As for the chorus, the first time I heard it, I realised that this band was more than they appear and they’re meant to be taken seriously. “All they had to do was speak my name, to calm the lion, make him tame. Were you as wild as they say?”

Listen To Planningtorock's 'Human Drama'

Beside the synth swirls, the electronic bouncy beats, the handclaps and the strings (lots of them), the main attraction is Rostron’s voice, loud, operatic, deep and androgynous to the point you wonder about the gender or even the nature of the person producing such a sound

Track Review

Lily Allen's "Hard Out Here" Reviewed

It is a catchy smart lyric and a catchy smart song. It will be huge in the UK and I don’t see why it shouldn’t crack the charts here. Plus Lily, you are movie star ugly. Where the actress takes off her glasses and her hair and suddenly becomes Kate Middleton.

Track Review

Ben Howard "Call Me Maybe" Cover Reviewed

” The simplicity of it is stark and lovely, allowing Howard’s haunting voice to come and dance atop it. If you’d never heard the original, there’s no way you would’ve thought this was some stupid pop song previously”
