Seahaven released a new song called “Flesh”, and I had serious mixed feelings on it until about the fifth listen. The four-piece group from Cali has always packed a serious punch in their tunes, were unpredictable, but never as sporadic or strange as this. It’s off of their upcoming album, “Reverie Lagoon: Music for Escapism Only”. It comes out on March 25th, and the other things they’ve released from it have been impressive, and I’ve adored ‘em from the first listen. However, upon further investigation, “Flesh” is the band’s best release to date.
It’s complex and strange, and unlike anything else they’ve done. The melody and beat are unconventional and at first, totally turned me off. That is, until I realized what they were doing. The sound that they create is monotonous and puts you in a trance, then breaks, and powers through to the incredible and catchy chorus. It’s brilliant, and the composition, odd as it is, makes it addictive and interesting to listen to.
Kyle Soto’s voice is stunning; it has a haunting and chilling quality in the verses, and I can’t stop listening to it. On top of that, the chorus showcases his stronger side, the melodic and smooth vocals we all know and love him for. It shows versatility and is incredibly impressive.
I can’t wait to have the whole album released, and to see these guys live for the first time!! They’re touring with Touché Amoré and mewithoutYou. Catch ‘em, for sure.
