My problem with The Big Picture is my problem with Kat: her voice is so damn distinctive even when she is covering blues, country, rock, it all sounds like Kat. Good over a coupla of songs but a little too much over an hour. But I may be wrong and this is a great setlist.

ReeRee plays up to the competition, the only time I’ve seen her put on a good show was opening for young Eminem, where she was forced to raise her game through the roof and here is an idea if they wanna play Stadium, why not invite McCartney? I’ve always liked Ed, he is like a miracle of science, a guy who quite literally did it his way and yet managed to get away with singer songwriter angst and pop moves I’ve never seen him perform poorly. So consider this an absolute must see.

I can’t say I much care for “I Follow Seas” either and I just hope and pray they are not working on an album together. The couple bring out the worst in each other. It’s all so dark and lovely… The fiddle is dusky and not cool and the dup harmonizing is grating in its tastefulness. It sounds like the definition of middle class.

Lisa Ramey has unbelievable pipes, she doesn’t sound like the UK soul singers working the EDM side of pop soul all over the UK, she sounds old fashioned, and funky and the horns are blasting like a mutated Maceo. The title track is masterful and “Teacher” sounds like the Small Faces with a female Steve Marriott soundalike.
With synthesizers and strings, with sounds that are not like anything else and lyrics that touch the heart like Post happened yesterday, there is an clarity to her compassion, a stirring “in my heart is in my breast like love” goes one lyric and it is a gorgeous sentiment. “I did it all for love” Bjork claims

Lee Ann, at 48 years of age, is an old fashioned country singer from a linage that includes Loretta Lynn and Dolly Parton, a countrypolitan songwriter who can sell a song and a singer-songwriter who can dig down deep. A must see.
if the Temptations still has Otis and Duke Fakir is the only name I recognize in the Four Tops, but then again after Levi Stubbs it’s a little hard to care and since Levi has left the building, here we are now with two original member between two groups who are playing a week at the Palace on Broadway
The setlist isn’t bad either, more than half from the past two albums and I am a big Platinum fan so I don’t mind that. Plus a ZZ Top and a Merle Haggard cover to take you home. I coulda done with a couple more from from Ex-Girlfriend but it’ll do if it has to.
Consider Kat an updated Diana Krall matched with Joni Mitchell US Division. Kat is from Houston, a bit of shocker given her urban sensibility, and while she can’t arrange as well Diana or write as well as Joni, she can arrange better than Joni and write better than Diana.

I am, obviously, quite familiar with Arabic pop and Emel sounds less like Trip Hop goes to Palestine, and more like The Weeknd or maybe I mean Lorde with all the electronica going on, meets Fairuz and it is very very good.
