The last time I saw D’Angelo on stage was 2000 at Radio City and I expect him to be nowhere near as good at the Apollo Theatre on February 7th. really, I would be completely shocked if he didn’t blow it big time. One date before a European tour (the last time I had tickets for him was 2013 and he cancelled the gig like two hours before he was meant to go on) and I have doubts on doubts, in 2014 I called him most overrated, and still…
D’Angelo is the other, Brown Sugar and Voodoo are such great albums, and he is such a nutcase and you never know whe he is going to play or where or why. Actually, the last time I saw him was at that Carnegie Hall gig where he covered Prince’s “”It’s Gonna Be a Beautiful Night” on what was certainly the evening highlight. No shocker there right? It was a crap evening if memory serves.
Anyway, I am driving myself crazy trying to find out the presale codes. There are:

And I have none of them. A friend of mine does business with WBLS but they go on sale at 10am on Monday (MLK day) and I doubt I will hear back on time, Apollo A List is a $75 charge so screw that and Ticketmaster presale…? What’s that about? I tried everything. I even tried phoning em, got throught to an automated system who advised me everybody was busy and disconnected me. I also tried emailing but hopes? Not very high to be quite honest.
So maybe I am screwed on this one… if I do get a presale code I will absolutely share it if I can.
Meanwhile, with any luck D’Anngelo will be back this Spring (I’m surprised he isn’t doing Governors Ball -that’s the icing on the cake they need)/
