Taylor Swift Announces Tour With Haim!

Haim & Taylor Swift

The question is… is she going to trademark them too? But seriously, how did this happen so fast? The Haim sisters are going on tour with Taylor Swift, what? Oh if I had paid attention to Swift Instagram – as if I had time for this – I would have seen it coming, the Haim girls have spent a hell of a time with Tay lately, they even went to Hawaii together… Anyway Taylor has recruited her best buddies for a few dates of her upcoming world tour (domination), as she announced it on her official site:

‘Announced today, HAIM will be special guests on select shows during The 1989 World Tour. HAIM is a LA-based band made up of sisters Este, Danielle and Alana Haim. HAIM’s full-length debut album “Days Are Gone” showcases their music talent with influences of rock, pop and R&B that have made the band such a critical and commerical success. Known for their dynamic live shows, which feature their accomplished abilities as musicians, the trio have been featured at prestigious festivals like Glastonbury and Coachella. HAIM are nominated for Best New Artist at this year’s GRAMMY Awards.

HAIM will be joining Taylor Swift on The 1989 World Tour for the below dates; find details for all shows here.

East Rutherford, NJ – MetLife Stadium : July 10& July 11
Washington, DC – Nationals Park : July 13& July 14

Ha, there is even a typo that I didn’t correct! But how did this happen? Here at Rock NYC we have covered the valley sisters since their humble beginning, I saw them at a tiny street fair (the Hudson Block Party) then at the Twilight Concert Series in Santa Monica in May and July 2012, Iman saw them opening for Mumford and Sons at Barclay Center early 2013, but I really heard about them for the first time early 2012, when Ryan Adams joined them on stage at the Echoplex… yes, the tiny Echoplex and now they are playing the Staples Center with Swift, just three years later. This is a fast ascending success if I have seen one and I am still pondering why this happened. They are great live, I have never doubted they would make it, but I have grown a bit tired of their stage antics and just-okay music.

So is this a girl power tour? Totally! A strategic friendship from the Haim camp? Certainly! A calculated attempt to connect with the indie crowd from the Swift camp? Of course! Everything is calculated with Taylor, she doesn’t leave anything to chance, even this picture above has been photoshopped,… just follow the boat guardrail.
