Without wishing to be a complete jerk here is some questions for Monty Python’s Flying Circus:
1 – WHy did they not bring their final live show to New York, where they coulda made a fortune?
2 – Why are they coming here for a screening of the 40th Anniversary of “Monty Python AT The Holy Grail” -a movie I’ve watched a coupla million times?
3 – Who cares?
Talk about a must see, the remaining Python’s all under the same roof (the roof in question being Beacon Theatre) as part of the Tribeca Film Festival on April 24th (a Friday!) and while I expect we don’t get much from them, it is like, well, to be obvious, if the Beatles reformed to play “All You Need Is Love” -just one song, but would you want to miss it? I think not.
Holy Grail is a little loose, a little woolly (the Broadway Musical based on the movie , “Spamalot”, was awesome by the way, with Tim Curry as King Arthur -the late great Graham Chapman’s role) but it is consistently hilarious. Faves? The rude French guys? A Shrubbery. “It’s a fair cop”. Come to think of it, it might be worth seeing even without the remaining Pythons
Presale is March 23rd from AMEX and what else. Michael Palin is playing Australia, so who knows, he might honor us with a showing… who knows?
