Lily Allen's "Hard Out Here" Reviewed

She’s back

Yes, folks, finally the great Lilly Allen is back and she is good as ever! Joe Strummer’s Goddaughter, and Amy Winehouse contemporary, who came to the world’s attention through “Myspace”a nd some of the smartest, most ruthless lyrical writing ever, has written to the public eye with a duet on a Pink song last year, the John Lewis commercial covering Keane’s “Somewhere Only We Know” last week, and now a brand new song, “Hard Out Here”.

“It’s hard out here for a bitch” goes the hook but really, it is a major slapdown of the music business refusing to allow women to grow old gracefully. What she means is the pop music business not the  music business, does Lily think Loretta Lynn can’t record because she has let herself go? Or Lily herself for that moment.

And does she thing 1D are not sexually manipulated.

In the end Lily’s obsession with her weight is the same as it ever was, isn’t it?

Well, who cares? It is a catchy smart lyric and a catchy smart song. It will be huge in the UK and I don’t see why it shouldn’t crack the charts here. Plus Lily, you are movie star ugly. Where the actress takes off her glasses and her hair and suddenly becomes Kate Middleton.
