I am probably the wrong person to write about Lady Gaga’s new song ‘Do What U Want’, but honestly doesn’t this sound totally uninspired? The track is the second one off her upcoming ‘Artpop’ album due in November, and it features R. Kelly, but it seems that this dance number has been done at least twenty years ago.
These vague R&B-disco beats are as blank as Gaga’s ass filling my computer screen,… the cover art for the song apparently? I actually think there’s more to ponder on her behind than on this Gaga-Kelly duo. Gaga’s voice, doing its best Christina Aguilera impression, and Kelly’s autotuned moaning and crooning vocals will probably please the fans, and I am sure that the tune is going to be fine (even big) in dance clubs all over the planet, but the song is totally unoriginal like the supposedly sexy lyrics ‘Do what you want with my body’? Does she even know what R Kelly usually does with hot female bodies? Oh well, I am not going to go there because it would be a whole different post, but this song was totally unnecessary and I already regret the several minutes I spent listening to it.
‘Ya we taking these haters and we roughin’ em up And we laying in the cut like we don’t give a fuck’ Kelly sings before more of that Gaga’s mid Madonna mid queen of the dance floor, it’s vulgar and so two-decade-ago!
‘Do What U Want’ was released as Artpop’s single on Monday in the US-Canada-Mexico, and on Tuesday worldwide, whereas a second song will be released on October 27th, and a third one on November 4th, but I think I’ll pass for the following ones.
