The Kooks, "Ooh La" Stripped Down and Gorgeous
I now want (if not DEMAND) a stripped down tour. There is more personality and clarity in this video then their live performance that night.

The new Guards’ black and white video posted by yourstru.ly could just give me the excuse to talk about this band again, but it is actually so good that it
Swedish House Mafia is the biggie here, a swift sell out (in never got past the Facebook presale). This is a huge gig for them (I believe they’re recording it), not only is it at MSG -a big room by most standards, but for dance fans anyway, it is the biggest thing this side of Miami (Or Ibiza).
All our attempts to have this number revised have been fruitless but rather than detain you with tedious arguments about morality, panache and book-keeping – when there are really bigger fish to filet these days – we are taking the following unusual step.’
Drake and Florence welch have formed a mutual admirtion society. And to prove it, here is Florence with her machine covering Drake’s recent “Take Care” duet with Rihanna which samples the XX!!
I cant express to you how the sound of her yelping leaves bruises on my aura. I want to commit crimes, it sends me to rage. Not only is she an instant bad mood, shes a sniveling sapping cry baby who should be boxed.
The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year – Scott Weiland – Fully orchestrated, essentially faithful, takes on the standards.Hurt because… well, because his voice is creepy. Might sell to the fanbase if he has one. Grade: B-
Andrew Lloyd Webber’s, not to mention lyricist Tim Rice), greatest moment, perhaps because it’s the greatest story ever told, right, is making a comeback. Broadwy eagerly awaits the March 2012 mounting of Jesus Christ Superstar. faux rock? Sure. but better faux-rock than faux-opera.
A lovely hardened classic that has guitar pitch that goes just a smidge too high, enough to shatter a bulb or two. It does tame for verse (which is lovely by the way) but what is most disappointing?
The single will be released on December 11th and all proceeds will go to Product (RED) to fight AIDS in Africa.
After a year of writing this column, I figured I’d try something different. I would explain why I was listening to the songs instead of what they sound like…
their crushing-skull wall of noise filled right away the room, building, distortion over distortion, a wild monster, that was hardly letting the poppy and calm melodies escape from this thunderous madness.
Melodic story telling from such a young face. There must be some history there. The video below for “Boogie Man”, describes fear so eloquently that I cant help wondering what has scared Grieves so deeply that he can convey his message like this.
He has made movies that have just rocked me out. “The Boyfriend” -his homage to Busby Berkeley for one. And the two I mentioned earlier. Everything Russel does is feverish in the way Fellini or Zeffirelli are feverish: he can pitch it so over the top, again, look at “Tommy”.
This 1500-copy limited edition collectors set (which comprises of one CD, one DVD, and one 10″ vinyl EP, in addition to a hardcover book and a Costello-autographed commemoration card) comes with a hefty price tag
had tix to see the Streets farewell gig last August but he cancelled. Which means I will have never gotten to see my favorite English rapper on stage. Better than Tinie Tempeh, Professor Green, better than Dizzee Rascal or Wiley.
For the first time since 1977 Devoto will front the infamous Buzzcocks which could be potentially be the most amazing (or pathetic) concert of all time.
‘C’mon man, I think gay people are too sensitive. If you can take a dick, you can take a joke.’ That’s T.I. whose prison term may have been more interesting than he is letting on…
Generic Gift – Modern Hut – Joe Steinhardt’s new band. If all you’ve heard is the “Wrong” stream, the man is holding out. I’ve heard some of the new stuff and it is everything you hoped it would be.
‘summond to NYC by bitchesses > MADONNA and @NICKIMINAJ > cofffffiiiiiiieeeeeeeeee it iz a good day to get me tho trustttt bitches’
Its just upbeat punk rock in its purest form. There is no message its drunken sing along filthy punk with a rockabilly howl.
The story of Saddam Hussein’s son, the villainous Uday Hussein, should be the highest of high camp as befitted the modern day Caligula, or a deadly serious look at his villainly. “The Devil’s Double” is neither.
Dukowski has said to have been a fan of Oxbow in many interviews, while Robinson has declared to always have had the idea to sing for or with Dukowski. It is now a reality.
The pressure to be perfect 24:7 is unfair on ALL artists. I over sang at points yes I wasn’t in tune the whole song yes and I’m confident to put that out there. Its important to know your qualities but also know where things can be improved
Goblin – Tyler The Creator – People hate this album before they’ve even heard it. Shouldn’t that tell you something? A stone cold classic and a “rebel without a cause” for a new generation. And a game changer like the Pistols. And the voice of white america in the teens 21st century. And just a truly great rap album.
15 To 20 – The Phenomenal Handclap Band – Counting their money on a sing song nursery rhyme or rap, depending upon your mood. Pretty addictive.
an excellent surprise with their combination of power-choruses filled with girl-boy vocal harmonies and layered shoegazing-atmospheric soundscapes
These born again Christians are pretty brutal if you can’t meet them half way but really, given the job at hand, they handled themselves OK. Friendly, Godl fearing, lotsa face scrunching. You could do worse.
Now I’m all for bands using bad words in songs to express a strong emotion. But this band is sponsored by Nick- a children’s channel. They’re supposed to be setting an example and in all of the other versions of the song, it isn’t censored.
Chris Marin is well on his way to becoming the weirdiest man in rock and roll, he is a passive aggressive hot mess unable to manage the middle ground between his inflated ego and Public School Boy “Thank you Sir, may I have another” psychosis.

The music is the equal of the movie. If all you know of Hawaiian music is that bloke who does “Somewhere Over The Rainbow”, prepare to be wowed big time. Gentle but not soft, based around steel guitars, flutes, and vocals that seem to yodel
she played some old favorites and some off her upcoming album, including “the coiled Bono baiting venom” of a new song, “What IS A VIP” -the best song of 2012 and I haven’t heard it yet
2010 tax records filled by the non-profit organization showed that only $5.1 million went to the relief efforts. But this is not the only problem…

She needs more “Ghosts” in her backpocket, and she needed to learn more from ex Charlie Fink. To put it bluntly, Laura’s songs are beautifully crafted, and she has a lovely voice, but they are not memorable enough. Stil, I would like to see her
Right in time for holiday card sending. I thnk I might be the only person on Earth who uses snail mail still but WOW this is such a cool thing.
I guess the world took the day off here, I mean when Trey Songz is the best new reeleases and that is an EP there ain’t nothing going on but the rent, or is it that it never hurts to put Fabulous on one of your tracks
Sleeping Beauty: Waltz – Tchaikovsky – And here was I thinking Walt Disney wrote it, a gorgeous waltz and the lyric when Disney got round to it, was “I know you, I danced with you once upon a dream”.
energy seems to be an understatement when you see them on stage, they were constantly jumping and moving despite being on the crowded small stage of the Viper Room, making an impression on the crowd with their sexy outfits (or lack of)…
But I adore anything from youth, hippity hops and big wheels and yes, Muppets. I have been squealing with excitement to see the new film and well .. I saw it.
The lyrics conjure images of shrugging the devils of your past off your back and this, combined with Florence Welch’s soulful crooning, makes the song memorable.
Big Chocolate held the audience in the palm of his hand playing a variation on on Simon Says and playing with sonic heavy bass lines and drum sequences. The aural pounding is infectious and fun.
Between his furious tirades, he was making grandiose, half-elegant half-arrogant gestures, taking the matador pose, with one of his hands on his waist as if he was ready for a Spanish dance or was proclaiming some victory over some fake enemy.
. Los Campesinos were headlining and coming off easily their best album to date We Are Beautiful, We Are Doomed (even the title is a knockout). They encored with “You Better Use Those Fingers For Crossing” and I left the space and all I wanted to do was write about how I felt about the nights music.
