In 2002 Stiff Records released "Wunderbar- The Stiff Singles". Ten years later I stumble upon it. What a loser I am- or what crap marketing on Stiffs side
Regardless, Tenpole Tudor are the unsung heroes of punk. Participants on the infamous Sex Pistols 'Great Rock and Roll Swindle", the rockabilly trash really had a sound that is nothing less of brilliant. The most ridiculously unique vocals a bass that is incredible to this day and that fisting drumbeat makes TPT one of my all time favorite bands.
Edward Tudor-Pole, who I had an enormous crush on lead this band of merry men and still sorta does with occasional reunions and aside from a God awful attempt at Cajun inspired Tenpole (dude wtf were you thinking), he concentrates on acting,. Adam Antish in that dontcha think?
But what is most important nearly a decade after release is how you MUST find Wunderbar and listen to it in heavy rotation. Its just upbeat punk rock in its purest form. There is no message its drunken sing along filthy punk with a rockabilly howl.
The biggest tune from the band has to be "Swords of A Thousand Men". There just isnt enough opportunities to scream "OOORAHHYAY", so I suggest you do so now. And I suggest this band get back together and tour and come to the Northeast and hang out with me- I'll buy you dinner (thats a lie, I will make you pay)
Check out Poleboy.. man oh man time flies
