1. Goblin – Tyler The Creator – People hate this album before they've even heard it. Shouldn't that tell you something? A stone cold classic and a "rebel without a cause" for a new generation. And a game changer like the Pistols. And the voice of white america in the teens 21st century. And just a truly great rap album.
2. 4 – Beyonce – Why did "1+1" not break pop? No idea.
3. Cynics Need Love Too – Wesley Wolfe – The thing is, this ain't pop, it's art rock. And a hard sell. It takes effort but it is worth it.
4. Take Care – Drake – You're right, it's too long and it sags two thirds of the way. So delete three songs.
5. Better Days – Dolly Parton – Her best album in years and taken from her flop "9 to 5" Broadway musical, where some of these songs first saw the light of day. Makes me refret not checking it out when I had the chance.
6. Ceremonials – Florence + The Machine – A giant leap forward for Florence Welch. Maid her a superstar fastasthat.
7. Red Nation – Game – His best album in years, oddly neglected.
8. Wild Flag – Wild Flag – This is indie rock, riot grrrl, whatever… a terrific album by any cliche.
9. David Comes Alive – Fucked Up – Tool me forever to coptton on to this, it actually took watching it live.
10. Dead Throne – The Devil Wears Prada – The best hardcore album of the year.
Ps: expect a lot more lists before the year is out…
