We didn't need John Aizlewood to tell us Sinead O'Connor is "intene", "fearless and "electric" on stage. we know that. We needed him to tell us she was "intense' "fearless" and "electric" NOW because we haven't seen her in years. And he did. Me, I've seen her on stage many times, I once saw her open for Van Morrison at a Fleagh in Randalls Island, and she has always been excellent.
Sunday, at St. John's in Hackney, she played some old favorites and some off her upcoming album, including "the coiled Bono baiting venom" of a new song, "What IS A VIP" -the best song of 2012 and I haven't heard it yet. Really, if musicians can't bait Bono, who exactly are they baiting?
