Guards, "I see it coming" Video Reviewed

The new Guards’ black and white video posted by yourstru.ly could just give me the excuse to talk about this band again, but it is actually so good that it should not be an excuse. I saw Guards live almost a year ago, and I immediately downloaded their EP (it was even free!) and I am still listening it to a year later. You really should do the same: http://guards.bandcamp.com/album/guards-ep

Filmed in San Francisco McAvoy Ohara Mortuary, and played by a full band with strings, piano and even horns, the Magik Magik Orchestra, a Bay Area-based collective of classically trained instrumentalists, the music has such an organic acoustic feeling, that you would swear you are part of that church chorus.

And ‘I See It Coming’ is such a glorious song that, with its bouncing-foot-tapping rhythm, anxious energy and its soaring sing-along chorus, it would certainly make Win Butler turn green of jealousy.

Richie James Follin (the brother of Cults’ Madeline Follin, who, I believe, is also in the video) just has to continue producing these perfect mood-boosting anthems, that put butterflies in your stomach and haunting hooks in your head.
