Must See Gig: Laura Marling At The McKittrick Hotel, December 11th, 2011

The McKittrick Hotel is on West 37th around 10th Avenue, it is where "Sleep No More" is playing -you know, the reworking of Macbeth where you follow characters of your own choice from room to room. I would follow Lady Macbeth -remember the Playboy production where she did the "out damn spot" soliloquy naked? Who knows, right?

Anyway, Laura Marling is performing there December 11th, 2011.

I loved Laura when she was just a wee thing playing in Noah And The Whale but didn't much care for her solo work until last years Alas I Cannot Swim.  And I am a lot less keen on this years  A Creature I Don't Know. She is too… staid? I dunno, too folkie, too emotional. She needs more "Ghosts" in her backpocket, and she needed to learn more from ex Charlie Fink. To put it bluntly, Laura's songs are beautifully crafted, and she has a lovely voice, but they are not memorable enough.

Stil, I would like to see her, she is only 21 years old and already has career behind her. I'd like to see her early(ish).

Marling is playing at  and she is playing two sets  at the McKittrick Hotel December 11th.

Here is one reason I am missing it.

1. It's a Sunday.

here's another

2. I am seeing Jane Birkin that night.

But, the second show will probably be a late one, I could maybe make both. And here is the real reason I'll pass.

3. No tix sold in adavnce. Actually they were sold out but if you go on tiketmasteer they've released more tix.

WTF, we got ticketmaster so we don't have to wait in line all night, now Morrissey on one Coast and Marling on the opposite, want us do do just that.

Still, if you're younger and a bigger fan you should give it a try!
