NEEDTOBREATHE At Madison Square Garden, Tuesday, November 22nd, 2011 Reviewed

I got my notes here somewhere, hang on a second… oh yeah

Rock and roll for people who don't enjoy either rocking or rolling.

A King Of Leon's for people not cool enough for King Of Leon.

These born again Christians are pretty brutal if you can't meet them half way but really, given the job at hand, they handled themselves OK. Friendly, Godl fearing, lotsa face scrunching, their best song "Something Beautiful" sold proficiently, another song "Drive All Night;" ignites and they get the little girls screaming. This is arena rock that hasn't reach arena size yet, Led Zep taught us how and U2 perfected it: every chorus you make louder and go up an octave and the audience are conned into thinking they're enjoying it more.

The last song had NEEDTOBREATH returning to their Christian roots with a song of faith and it was the nights besr moments. Did I like it? A little. Do I like em? Not much. Would you? You could do worse.
