"Ho Hey" by The Lumineers Reviewed
I recently came in direct contact with a tune I’ve been humming to myself for a long time, and only now do I know the title and band. It’s “Ho Hey” by The Lumineers. Insanely simple, yet it packs a punch.

It’s not even that just the lyrics are poetic- the way that the instruments blend and mesh is poetry. The emotional depth is genius and shows that the band has grown exponentially
It kind of almost sounds like an Ed Sheeran song- the reason? It is an Ed Sheeran song. Both he and 1D put together this masterpiece.
I’ve been in quite a nostalgic mood, music-wise, so I decided to give a listen to the original Lion King soundtrack. It is the greatest opening scene to any of the films Disney’s ever done.
As a simple, gentle instrumental, it lets your mind wander. It kind of reminds me of something Conor Oberst would stick in at the end or beginning of one of his tunes.
Bayside can literally do nothing wrong. They took it on, made it their own, but kept the integrity of the brilliance. They added a few new layers, but made sure they paid proper tribute.
It’s cliche when people say “music changed my life” because it seems so trivial and so obvious, but it truly did. I will never forget the very first time I put in my headphones, played “Poison Oak”. I got chills- real, physical, tangible goosebumps and a shiver up my spine
I’m having friends who love photography, art, sports, etc. over and my eclectic and fun mix of tunes is a representation of that. In order to make sure that everyone can enjoy the music and have a good time
Lazzara’s stage presence is great, simply because he could lay down for the whole show and be a phenomenal performer. He’s so charismatic and that alone could make up for any missed notes and any lyric mess ups
Raneri’s voice is absolutely gorgeous. It always is, in everything, but something about this tune just brings it out to a point where I’d probably name him top vocalist in my book. It’s the perfect balance of scratchy vocals and abundant, expansive vocals
Happy Oberst October! From now until I see the man at Carnegie Hall on November 21st, I’ll be focusing in on his music career, life, and anything that may fall inbetween.
I feel gipped for not being born in that time. To be part of that scene would’ve been insanely cool. Hearing stories about it makes my eyes light up, and a bit green with envy. I’ve heard to much bad about it; the drugs, the violence, and the hatred seems scary and dangerous.
this world he creates, he’s playing the song with himself- pretty interesting. I love the shots, and White is really lookin’ spiffy. The entire feel of the scene that’s set is frankly a bit creepy- it’s like an alternate universe Jack created where he has the opportunity to make “I’m better than you” faces at himself
This is the greatest anthem ever. Whenever I hear it I just want to yell out the words. It’s the best teen angst song of all time- it has glimpses of punk, but is much more progressive indie. Its’ wicked catchy and just makes me want to dance.
Morrissey’s voice was impeccable; he is a truly consistently great musician This was when the crowd fell in love with him even more. The energy in the room shifted- there was a sense of togetherness, community, in the way that this song was carried out.
Whenever I go past Mcdonalds I get very, very angry. I feel the same way. Either it’s because consumerism makes me gag, or because of how cruel they are. I absolutely despise Mcdonald’s; what they do is entirely unforgivable
The only things they know about politics have been pushed onto them by their guardians- their opinions are not their own. They’re spewing nonsense, and it’s pretty much pure humour. I hate how kids try and say that they’re going to make a difference when they can’t do jack.
They’re there for girls to swoon over them, and boy do they do that well. Their smiles are genuine, and they even do the Inbetweeners dance, which I thought was the cutest thing ever. The best part is when they’re on the lake in those gigantic inflatable hampster balls- that looks so fun.
He nails the feel of it, captivating the listener in a soft way, making it feel like a hug, then pulling you in, just like the original does. William’s voice has that quality as it is, but mixed with the warmth of the guitar and the pattern and the simplicity of it all amplifies it in a way that really no one else has captured.
He’s on a crazy journey climbing through the woods, stealing a moped, and nearly getting knocked out. The reason? He’s on his way to his wife, Tara. She’s waiting for him in the sunset and he comes to play her the song
Max’s guitar playing is phenomenal. It isn’t overbearing on their voices, and it’s a great background tune. The way it isn’t stereotypical and Bemis puts his own spin on it is what makes this song so great.
I reminisced by listening to a very recent acoustic rendition of their old tune “Breakdown”. I adore the song, with its quick beats and fabulous guitars. John and Caleb’s voices are beautiful and I remember this song being one of my favourites on Underdog Alma Mater.
He’s so charismatic and talented that I can’t get enough of his performing. He is an incredible musician and gets so enveloped in what he’s doing and it’s admirable. I can honestly say that he has one of the best and most distinctive voices I’ve ever heard
Touche Amore released a new tune called "Whale Belly". I haven't really listened to them much lately, so I was eager to hear this new release. It's a part of
Hearing it acoustic has rekindled my love for the song- I forgot just how incredible it was. Pierre’s voice is so quirky and has a quality that makes it stand out. No one else sings like him, and his vocal skill just gets better and better. Hearing him raw and not held back really reminded me of why MCS is brilliant
The beginning of the song makes it seem like a really sweet song, with a romantic element and it almost appears like a love song until the chorus. “Go to hell”, the main message, is almost humourous in its delivery.
Over a quarter of jazz and blues listeners have been in accidents due to being “really into the music; getting swept up”. On the opposite end of the spectrum, those who put on Chopin or Bach or other classical virtuosos, are the least likely to have an issue.
Silverstein was a band that I basically grew up with. I remember having their poster on my wall in seventh grade, and listening to them and Hawthorne Heights in my bedroom, pretending I was at a show. I purposely didn’t listen to any of their more recent stuff because I wanted to hear it live first.
MTV just premiered their version of The Inbetweeners. I love the UK version- the characters are perfect, they all are wonderfully matched and the show’s chemistry is what makes it one of the funniest shows ever.
As cool as these things are, what sucks is when you go to their concerts, you can only buy the band’s shirts and the band’s accessories. At least at old FOB shows there would be a shirt or two, and at some BMTH shows they have other merch.
The beats are thumping, the little sounds thrown in either fit or don’t at all, and that’s what makes them so interesting. I can’t think of any other musicians who’ve done this. It’s like going to see a musical, and the songs with lyrics are the dialogue, and everything else is one of the musical numbers.
I read a comment online saying how Never Shout Never’s Harmony was like a “teenage, amateur Bob Dylan with a few more pop influences”. Intrigued, I knew I had to listen.
Musically, their sound has devolved into a streamlined bland version of what they used to be. They used to have some variety in their songs, shown by “Dance Hall Drug” and “Five Minutes to Midnight”, which were wonderfully composed and full of twists and turns that kept you tuned in
“I feel like a lot of political bands don’t know what the fuck they’re talking about. There are some bands that are really really intelligent and can get their point across. Where the thing is with most bands, you don’t really have to be intelligent. You can be an awesome band and be fucking dumb as a wall,”
I was watching the music video for “Timberwolves At New Jersey” in remembrance of the album and it totally reminded of me when I was a younger kid and really was into the new-punk scene. The song is flawless and wicked catchy.
As a peer, I can say that though the attempt was decent, it was nowhere near what she could’ve made it. I hear a lot of potential in her voice and she just oversang it. She held notes too long, used a bit too much vibrato, and didn’t make it her own as much as she attempted to change it a bit.
Attention fans: don’t believe everything you read on the internet!!! Jesus!!! Hahahaha”. “It’s funny how people are my fans after hearing about my prison sentence I served for fighting in the desert but read some random story online then completely flip the script on me and hate me
Yesterday, rapper Machine Gun Kelly tweeted: “Shoutout to the singer from Taking Back Sunday for being a complete vagina just now”, which Lazzara retweeted. This sparked a lot of hate towards the rapper by Adam’s fans and MGK haters alike.
Hranica was a blur on stage, his vocals as intense as ever. He gets increasingly better, and this time around he was at the top of his game. The threat of the storm wasn’t a threat to him at all, passionate and strong and crazy loud.
There were kids I spoke to that thought Slayer should have been the headliner. A few mentioned that Slipknot had lost its edge and Slayer should have closed the night. I disagree,
One thing I love about this is the fact that the crowd is singing it right back at him, with just as much emphasis as the performer. It’s so great, and hearing it live for the first time makes it now my favourite on the EP. It’s so catchy and fun, and it’s even better live
Music isn’t about the art anymore. It’s no longer about what you feel, and what you hear. It’s all about what you see and if it’s catchy. No one wants to take the time to listen to older bands because they’re “irrelevant” or they all “sound the same” when in reality, every Bieber tune is exactly the same.
As things escalated, Radke did a flip on stage and lost the sunglasses, revealing the teardrop tattoo and his sick, bloodshot eyes. Regardless of not feeling well, he still gave it his all and went into “Raised By Wolves”, an incredibly impressive tune recorded that’s even better live.
Helen said this was THE band of Warped Tour 2012. I think they’re some of the coolest down to Earth musicians I’ve met in a long time. Lets hear it for nerd rock
The crowd was the biggest of any other at Warped that day,and I was forced to carry my camera above my head to get to the area to shoot them. It took me the entire song to squeeze my way through the crowd. Once I got to the front, they went right into “Error: Operator”.
The crowd was huge for their set, and it was dense and full of real fans. The mosh pit was really crazy- it was the most intense pit that wasn’t for a metal band. The kids got so into the set and yelled the lyrics right back at the band, which is always uplifting and cool to watch
The comic is based of FYS’ song “The Infected”, which I love. It’s a step forward from their older stuff, and it’s a nice change. Their sound is heavier now that their synth player is gone and I adore the vocals- they’re really what makes the song brilliant. I can see crowds moshing to this tune more than their previous work. Because it has a rougher quality
I remember the first real album I ever bought and really listened to was “Louder Now”. I remember putting it into my walkman and turning the volume up immediately. The opening track, “What’s It Feel Like To Be A Ghost?” was the first tune that really struck me. I listened to the record all the way through,
This is a sign at the least to keep as hydrated as possible not only at your local Warped Tour, but during the summer. Don’t forget to refill your water bottles and stay safe. Occasionally make sure your friends are drinking water as well.
This year at WarpedTour, they are doing an acoustic “basement” stage, where lead singers can go and perform solo, or bands can do acoustic sets. I am BEYOND stoked for Anthony Raneri’s solo there, but I heard that Into It. Over It. was partaking as well…
