Go Radio's "Go To Hell", Reviewed

Ever since Jason Lancaster leaving Mayday Parade, I never really followed up with his new band Go Radio.  They released a lyric video for their new song "Go To Hell", and it makes me disappointed in myself for not listening to GR more.

The song is brilliant.  Lancaster's voice is unlike any other I've heard, and it wasn't really a strong influence in Mayday Parade's A Lesson In Romantics.  It's so versatile yet specific and beautifully unique.  His range is stunning, and his style of vocalization is one that pretty much only he could pull off; it's like it was made for him.  It's got a classic sound that makes it ideal for what he's doing, with a hint of pop influence that makes it appealing to any other listener.

The beginning of the song makes it seem like a really sweet song, with a romantic element and it almost appears like a love song until the chorus.  "Go to hell", the main message, is almost humourous in its delivery.  The tune is set up in the first verse to be like a "I miss you, and I want you back" tune, till he expresses his true feelings.  It's so clever, and is what makes it so great.

This is definitely the ideal breakup song.  The animosity and spiteful disposition for an ex is portrayed pretty much word for word; they've described the feeling to a tee.  Other breakup jams are satisfying, but I think this one just takes it a step further.

I'd love to send this to an ex- maybe you should.
