The sassy Jack White released a music video for his tune "I'm Shakin'". This brilliant song is the danciest and bluesiest diddy I've heard in a while, and fits in perfectly on Blunderbuss. The video is so great, too. I haven’t seen a video for a song specifically by White, and I was eager to check it out. It's a battle of Jack White vs Jack White. Similar to The White Stripes wearing red in their music videos, White's clothes and surroundings are all shades of blue and white and black, much like the cover of his solo album. In this world he creates, he's playing the song with himself- pretty interesting. I love the shots, and White is really lookin' spiffy. The entire feel of the scene that's set is frankly a bit creepy- it's like an alternate universe Jack created where he has the opportunity to make "I'm better than you" faces at himself. Some of the faces the musicians make are disturbing; it’s kind of like the creepy side vs the dancy side.
This being said, his dancing is adorable, and make him seem a lot less like a star to idolize; for some reason, I see him as this arrogant guy who steps on stage and plays one chord and steps right off. However, you can't hate him 'cause he's so real. I haven't seen that a lot, but when I do, I appreciate it.
The dancers in the video are phenomenal, too. They didn't get enough footage at all- they deserve some serious recognition. I would've loved for the scene between them to have developed even more. However, it was nice that the video wasn't all just White singing to himself.
The song and video match up seamlessly, and Jack White is an eccentric artistic genius. That song is shakin’.
