Tucked deep in Canyon County Ohio on a plot of private land a music festival took place with little or no real fanfare. Police indicate that there were no incident as in other fests. If you recall this years Warped had a fatality and other summer festivals had numerous episodes of dehydration, drunk and disorderly and even in some cases violence.
Yet this little gathering had none of that. Antipathy Records endorsed “Hamerfest” is organized by the white supremacist group “Hammerskin Nation”. According to the Idaho Statesmen, “It was in the Melba area,” Corporal Bill Jarrett said. “But we didn’t have any calls or real problems with it at all. It was pretty uneventful, overall.”
See peaceful gatherings are possible. Antipathy Records which calls itself a “white nationalist” label mentioned the fest briefly on their Facebook page.
“Thanks to everyone who has made it possible for several hundred of us to gather,” Antipathy said. “Thanks also to the Boise people and law enforcement that have respected our rights and welcomed us into their city. We are having a great time and we will see you again soon. For all you antis and Commies, next time bring your A game. You'll need it.”
Just as people have the right to love you have the right to hate. I find it really interesting that these events can be so discreet. I can guarantee you if they used their freedom of speech to advertise this the fists would have flown. Although, I may not share all of their beliefs, I do believe in the freedom to think and gather. Unfortunately none of the bands involved were made public either.
