I've always found Justin Pierre of Motion City Soundtrack nothing less than charmingly awkward.
He posted a YouTube video titled "Cambridge & Information", in which he recorded MCS' "Cambridge" acoustic, and talked about MCS' future plans. I love I Am The Movie since it was the record that got me to love Motion City; "Cambridge" was a tune I played over and over and over again, and ever since have skipped over when listening to the record. Hearing it acoustic has rekindled my love for the song- I forgot just how incredible it was. Pierre's voice is so quirky and has a quality that makes it stand out. No one else sings like him, and his vocal skill just gets better and better. Hearing him raw and not held back really reminded me of why MCS is brilliant. The guitar and vocals together show a level of talent incomparable to any other musician in their genre.
He also announced a lot of new things. Him and Josh Caine are going to Rock the Vote at the Democratic National Convention to play a half hour acoustic set, which is so cool. They're also touring! Here are the northeast dates:
11/4 Theatre of Living Arts- Philadelphia, PA
11/6 Irving Plaza- NY, NY
11/8 9:30 Club- Washington, DC
11/9 Paradise Rock Club- Boston, MA
Pierre is planning on doing little video installations like this possibly weekly, and is looking for feedback. Watch the video and comment with advice:
