For The Birds, Reviewed

Social media is a magical thing.

I came across a few people in Instagram, and low and behold, they're in an incredible band called For The Birds. I absolutely fell in love with them.

The absolute attention to detail and spine-tingling sensation their music gives you as a listener gets you hooked. The second you hit "play", you're engaged.

Specifically the demo of "Wednesday's Rain" touches me, and I'm not sure why. It gets to me. The composition of it is stunning. It doesn't even need anything added at all if you ask me. As a simple, gentle instrumental, it lets your mind wander. It kind of reminds me of something Conor Oberst would stick in at the end or beginning of one of his tunes. I would have no idea that it was a demo if that word wasn't in the title.

"Diges McGriger" is insane. My favourite song I've heard in… a long time. The vocals are gorgeous. I adore the whistling in the background; it's super cute, and adds an interesting element to the tune. The guitars are magnificent- these guys show such immense talent and putting it all together here just blows me away. It's all packed in to a much too short three minutes.

"That Was Then, This Is Now" was jawdropping. The bassist is phenomenal (and clad in a Black Flag shirt!). The drums are just so great; they not only drive the song, but it also makes the band's dynamic that much stronger. The simplicity of it all proves that less is more. They're all so musically talented, and so young. Obviously, they're all the greatest musicians ever reincarnated and brought back better than ever.

How the hell are they not signed?!

Go tell all your friends.
