I saw a video of them performing "There's No 'I' In Team" live and it just got me so much more excited. Something that fascinates me is seeing musicians perform songs they wrote years ago and still perform them with the same gusto they did however many years back. Adam Lazzara is the perfect example of this.
This song is off of Tell All Your Friends, which came out ten years ago. I've heard live versions from a decade back, which have blown me away. Some of the videos are from the original supporting tour for that record. It's one of the strongest tunes they have, and it is really intense and shows off TBS' diversity. The guitars and drums and bass are the foundation for the scratchy, angsty vocals. The lyrics are in response to "Seventy Times 7" by Brand New, but that doesn't take away from the stark honesty and perfection of the songwriting. It's dramatic and it feels so fierce compared to what they write now.
This live version is from Beat Kitchen in Chicago. The venue is small and intimate, which made for a very close show. Lazzara's stage presence is great, simply because he could lay down for the whole show and be a phenomenal performer. He's so charismatic and that alone could make up for any missed notes and any lyric mess ups. Besides the frontman and the usual band members, there was a violinist- that is so freakin' cool! This video just made me a thousand times more stoked to see 'em
