Justin Pierre "Broken Heart" Acoustic Reviewed

This week's acoustic rendition of an old MCS tune was "Broken Heart", off of Even If It Kills Me.  I absolutely adore that song, and for a very long time, it was my favourite tune on the record.  Now they're all equal to me.  When he played the first note and started singing, my heart sped up and I felt the strong urge to sing along.  I am in love with this rendition of the tune. His voice is absolutely flawless and, even when it's a bit scratchy.  I think that it's a thousand times better than the original; just the stark honesty of his voice gives me chills.  Not even listening to it now for the fifth time am I tired of it.

The guitar skills are extraordinary.  Especially between the first chorus and second verse.  The way he just takes the song and puts a new spin on it rather than simply playing it verbatim gives it a ton of character.  He's so charismatic and talented that I can't get enough of his performing.  He is an incredible musician and gets so enveloped in what he's doing and it's admirable.  I can honestly say that he has one of the best and most distinctive voices I've ever heard.  It's what makes MCS so original.  Him on his own, just a man and a guitar, is fantastic and it's just as captivating as watching the whole band; even moreso.  It's stunning.

This is by far the greatest thing that Justin Pierre has done in a while.
