I went to the House of Blues in Boston to see the Tell All Your Friends tour. I was beyond stoked because my two favourite bands were playing together- needless to say, I was counting down the hours since the second the shows were announced.
Getting there in the nick of time, I stood amongst the crowd and the energy shifted as Anthony Raneri, Jack O'Shea, Nick Ghanbarian, and Chris Guglielmo walked on stage. Opening up with "Sick, Sick, Sick", the "WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO"s were ovewhelming. The full venue rippled with familiarity, recognizing the tune. I couldn't help but dance along, and noticed that even people who didn't know the words were jammin', too.
The best song of the set was "Seeing Sound". By far my favourite newer Bayside masterpiece, this was the first time I heard it live. I couldn't help but sing really loud like an idiot and not care. I adore this song and I can't even express how in love I am with it. It was such a good feeling yelling the lyrics next to others who were doing the same- it was a community.
"Blame It On Bad Luck" is a song that's helped me through rough times, and I just can't get over hearing it live. Raneri's voice was spot-on, and gave me chills. The band is so perfect and I would love to meet them again to simply shake their hands and thank them. It's not until you're done going through something that you look back and remember the little things that made it easier. This song was one of those little things, and this was by far the best performance of it I have ever seen.
The band is a bunch of incredible performers, never missing a beat. It takes real talent to sing that powerfully every night, to play the drums that intensely, to shred on guitars. I've never been disappointed by their shows, and I know I never will be.
Bayside walked off that stage, gaining countless members of the "CULT". I hope that everyone else in the crowd was just as impressed as I was.
