Listen To Karen O's New Song 'Rapt'
It is simply called ‘Rapt’ and the tune reveals a real vulnerable side of the usually daring frontwoman, since she is singing it with a fragile, almost husky, voice over a totally stripped-down music arrangement

The story goes something like this: When director Hayley Young was thinking of how to make a video for the song, she wanted dancers from Nashville to be part of the act. A search online brought her to a routine by the Nashville Dance Center set to music from the musical Rock of Ages
‘I definitely struggled with whether to put that one on the record. It has more sentimentality to it than any of the other songs, but I’ve seen a lot of friends go through that stuff. [Having kids] would be a cool thing to do someday. I don’t particularly feel ready for it right now, but I guess no one ever does.’
Nobody seems to agree if you read some of the comments on Youtube, but everyone is looking for a deep meaning behind these images,… just because it’s Lykke Li, it must be deep. She may be a ghost, a wandering spirit, a lost person reliving the past, a schizophrenic…
If I remember correctly their video for ‘Algeirs’ was a sort of spaghetti western, so here we go for diversity. I have been a casual Whigs’ fan but I have seen them live once and Greg Dulli is the hell of a frontman.
At least, if this were a video for a new song, I would forgive them about the nonsense, but where is the music? There’s none and the Lips apparently have decided they were artsy film directors now. But Wayne, sorry you are no Ken Russell! R.I.P. The Flaming Lips.
“For a long part of the year, Thom Zimny and I have been talking about shooting a short film for Hunter Of Invisible Game. We’ve finally got the job done, and we think it’s one of our best. Thanks Thom for the hard work and brotherly collaboration. You and your crew bring it all. And to all of you out there in E St. Nation (fan club), we hope you enjoy.”
Despite R Kelly playing a weird sex-predator doctor and a naked Gaga masturbating in newspapers while being shot by Richardson, there’s nothing there really more shocking than in your usual shitty sexually-charged video. So may be the rest of the clip got wilder
The pace is slow, and weary, but the beat is much larger than we are used to, and while Joe has a sort of blank weird charm to him, the band look as though they’ve just arrived from 1978 –a mix of the Knack and Roxy Music. By the end of the song, Marissa is performing a sizzling solo to send it all back home.
Although the tune came out in 1965 this video is from 1967 and may well be one of the most incredibly awkward videos of all time. But honestly this just adds to the magic of the tune. So first off THANK YOU Mozzah for introducing me to a great artist!
I hate rapping. It puts you in this box. … I’m talented enough to do other things. I don’t know, I’m pretty bored with it. It’s not interesting. In the future, I want to do films. I want people to mention my name next to Wes Anderson or Quentin Tarantino. I don’t want my name to be mentioned next to other rappers at all.’
Musically its cheap and bland and Boz really? Can you throw some of the Polecat spirit in it? You don’t have to be the backdrop here if you don’t want to – its not Mozzer, this is your baby..why are you so diluted in your moment to shine?
It sounds robotic, and reminds me very much of “Synecdoche, New York”, how Phillip Seymour Hoffman’s character has a voice following him around the end. I think it’s a nod to it, which is pretty cool because that means Oberst is a fan of the film.
The Decemberists are part of that granola eating plain scene who bitch and moan about photos and videos. If you are one of their deciples youre going to honor their request- if you are like Rebecca Bohanan the chick who ballsed up and taped a couple tunes in Portland last week, you reap the rewards of capturing a fine tune.
It’s a short movie with dialogues evoking the ones on the Bright Eyes albums, but also the Spike Jonze’s film ‘Her, as a disembodied sexy female voice interviews Conor at the top of a tall Manhattan building in 2024. It sets the tone for the rest of the story
Iced Tea is a rich man in LA now with zero street cred and even less charisma. So whats a gal to do? Don’t watch and only listen. By doing so I have found that “Talk Shit Get Shot” is a great tune filled with perfect expletives and a nice metal beat.
The video, directed by vocalist Ninja, shows him as a real life pitbull-man, mauling people around a post-apocalyptic-looking town. Among his potential victims are two white and black catwomen and partner Yo-Landi Visser, as white as chalk, and looking creepier than ever.
I love the aspect of the kids in different animal masks being out in the woods- some might say it’s cliche, but I think it totally works. The shots of the band playing are also beautiful, it’s minimalistic but the lighting and the look of the instruments set the tone.
This latest video is by far the most depressing music video I have seen in forever and the most thought provoking. Done by Anslie Henderson the string people wither away before your very eyes and it kicks you in the gut.
From Jenga to model trains the efforts of a DJ are diluted to nothing but button pushing and of course waiting for just that right moment to drop the bass. DJ s are cashing in on the edm movement and this video gives a nice ribbing to that fact.
They had a great stop at South by SouthWest but then again who didnt? A music forum such as that is set up for rave reviews since the excitement of the event is blurring the actual qualtiy of what you’re seeing. Darn shame.
There’s a new music video for “This Is Gospel”- but the catch is the entire song is just Brendon singing at a piano. I literally melted when I found this out, because acoustic or stripped down Panic! is the best Panic! of all.
The tune itself serves as perfect background noise for this intense (and intensely silly) video. It’s quick, strong, angsty, catchy, and leaves you wanting so much more. I didn’t think it was possible for the guys to get any better, but I was wrong.
Morrissey’s next album is being released under Capitol Records, meaning he’s now with Katy Perry and Neil Diamond…two not-so-quality artists. It’s pretty cringe-worthy and to be honest, seems like a bit of a cop out.
Seeing the live performances of these guys basically show the extreme contrast in ‘now and then’ stage shows and fan behavior. It’s hard to imagine girls just sat in their seats and screamed seeing the Beatles and rip off their clothes and throw themselves on the stage for Crue
I love them, and was hoping they’d make a video for this tune. Matthew’s voice really gets to shine because it’s a slower song and he croons a bit and shows off just how well he can sing. “Now if you never shoot, you’ll never know and if you never eat, you’ll never grow,” he sings.
Dated and old using ‘slam’ as its hook shows these guys are too old for new music. They’re out of touch. First off who the hell says ‘slam’ anymore anyway?
It’s gorgeous and heartfelt, a slow ballad that’s heartbreaking and proves that the man still knows exactly how to play a song so that it tugs at your heartstrings. His guitar skills are phenomenal, and he seems to be more charismatic in his performance than usual.
the typical boy smoking, drinking, spray painting, fighting and making out with a homeless girl. You know what every 12 year old boy does while on his bike in Idaho or wherever the hell this was filmed
Regardless of whether or not this song is meant to be funny or go viral or what have you, that does not justify the poor taste. There is absolutely nothing funny about sexual harassment, and I don’t care how many views you want to get on a video
Josh Homme is a hard working man, is there a moment when he and his band have stopped touring this year? I am not sure and they even have announced new dates to this never ending Queens of The Stone Age world tour. But for now they also have a new video for the track ‘Smooth Sailing’ off their last album.
Watching it proved to me that there’s literally no way someone can say that Matt Healy, the frontman, is not talented. From beginning to end, he’s impressive and spot-on with everything he does.
The video features Jack as a therapist, just dumped, listening to other people’s problems and pleads of ‘I wanna get better’ but not actively doing anything about it. He seems distressed, distracted, disgusted.
It’s all a massive disappointment and I’m really disappointed in the use of objectifying women just to get people to listen to your awful music. It’s a low blow, an awful tactic, and absolutely dull and distasteful.
How this band could not be managed better, their issues handled more discreetly is beyond me. No one likes a Debbie Downer even if they have the sexiest eyes in rock and roll.
I watched it a few times, and I am sure the tall adolescent girl (also featured on the above cover of the single) is Arrow, the daughter of photographer Autumn de Wilde and drummer Aaron Sperske, don’t ask me how I know this!
They’ve been really busy with their headlining tour, but it’s nice to see that they’re still keeping up the pace with their music video releases, and this one was by no means lacking any of the attention to detail the other videos have involved.
There is nothing less erotic than these two in a bed an I swear I tried to find some sort of arousal factor in their performance but instead it looked like posing for a photo shoot rather than an actual entanglement.
