The tune itself serves as perfect background noise for this intense (and intensely silly) video. It’s quick, strong, angsty, catchy, and leaves you wanting so much more. I didn’t think it was possible for the guys to get any better, but I was wrong.

After seven years in the wilderness, the not best song on Paramore does the trick and gets them back on the singles chart. A fun video helped no doubt. SOrt of pop punk meets pop dance and not a bad polace to put the band. The two Iggys are great… but you already knew that.

It is really a first album the way first albums are meant to be, it’s like Khan couldn’t stop himself and just had all these ideas and had to run with them. The Deluxe version includes a song with Professor Green and a cover of “Get Lucky”. It’s like a vacation and a time to indulge yourself.
Helen was was complaining that the Morrissey setlist for North America 2014 seemed a little on the iffy side and she may well have a point there. This is a strangely obtuse bunch of songs. What is more worrying is his actual performance may have finally descended into schtick. Really, enough with all the hugging already, it no longer signifies affection or love or interest or respect, it just disrupts the performance.
What is Americana? Glad you asked. Americana is the Kwanzaa of pop music.; a wholly made up sun division of country. You could define it as country rock except Luke Bryan could be defined as country rock and Americana sets itself up as the opposite of bro country.
White Women – Chromeo – I’ve never been much of a fan of this disco duo, never hit me as inventive as Holy Ghost for one, but they get it right here. High energy, melodic, if a little old fashioned. The Solange song is terrific the Ezra Koenig song uses his falsetto to great effect and the opening track masterful – ALBUM OF THE WEEK – B+
I don’t know about the back of the room, but where I was, people were religiously listening rather than singing along, and may be having some marijane with that? Having the occasion to listen to many bands around, I can tell that a lot of them try to cultivate that sort of repetitive, drug-inspired psychedelic sound,
The tune is short and sweet, fast and the melody is complex and wonderful, and feels like a classic punk song. “You wonder how long something can last- pretty sure most people don’t think about that. But who the fuck is laughing now?”
I am not so much concerned with the sound of his voice but the content of his words. When you’re basically living the lifestyles of the rich and famous, can you really hit home lyrically with the hood?

Last week a couple of dozen huge and fully grown men graduated from college to the NFL, where they will make millions for a couple of years and let’s hope they save up for a rainy day. To be honest, in the three other times I’ve seen Two Humans, I’ve never seen them have as much fun. I know it won’t convince them to stay together or just constantly keep playing shows (please), but I’m glad that they could enjoy themselves.

Solange mentioned both she and M.I.A., with her mind on Sunday no doubt, are both mothers now. Not in a stodgy way, but there was no dramatics this night, no kicking photographs , no attitude. The entire evening was spot on the money, in a terrific place to see a show, with a good looking audience and a sweet temperamental and endless intelligence.
It is very sad when you have appreciated the music, the original live shows, the humor and the allegedly lack of ego of a certain band and you suddenly discover that they are actually the opposite of the image they have been projecting.
She stomps up with this new ditty “You or No One” and although it starts off in that nasal pitch I tend to dislike it evolves into a perfectly perfect toe tapping pop tune. Wow, it sounds like 1986 but in a good way.
So, if i may suggest, the next rainy Sunday afternoon you get, pop on Easter Parade, ‘ooh’ and ‘ahh’ at the sheer talent before your very eyes and ears and have your spirits raised and your mojo returned, then go and have a good ol’ bop in the kitchen.

Did you read the Rolling Stone Black Keys review? “In every other way, that turmoil is a giant step into the best, most consistently gripping album the Keys have ever made.” I’ve heard one song and it stank so please excuse me while I sneer up my sleeves. Typical Girls – The Slits – M.I.A. mentioned the late great Ari Upp at yesterdays Webster Hall gig, and listening to this great song from back when the fractured rhythms sound so much like an ancestor of M.I.A. and in a way the entire modern House scene it is worrying, it makes you think we didn’t give the Slits their due – A

Jazz was alive at noon at the High Line Ballroom. The entertainment was spectacular. Jonathan Batiste, Questlove of the Roots as DJ, and finally the Harlem Gospel Choir. But more important we were there to learn about what the Blue Note group was doing and how the Bensusan brothers and their love and passion for Jazz could help market our products
