Ceasers Palace President, Gary Selesner, was quoted in the New York Daily News as saying: ”Britney Spears has been a great success for the company and will be extended, if she wants to do it, and I cannot see why not. ‘She has been filling the place every night, and she is enjoying it and is in good health.” Can not what? Pick up another $15 million bucks to play 50 shows a year at theLas Vegas hotel and gambling casino.
When Britney was first offered the residency at Ceaser’s the chance for disaster seemed pretty clear. I mean, the 32 year old woman had just come through a very public nervous breakdown, cutting off all her hair and screaming at fans “I’m not who you think I am”. Apparently, the sedatives are working and the the show, directed by, now here’s a heavy hitter, Baz Halpin, runs for 90 minutes and began on December 27 at the 4,600-capacity Axis theatre, which is booked by Live Nation, is a huge hit.
I’ve seen Britney three times live and she has been exceptionally lousy each and every one of them. Bad lip syncing and bad dancing and zero interest in doing anything at all but getting off the stage and in Vegas, where she takes a private plane there and back every day, I doubt she is much more inspired and I don’t think she needs to be. If ever a place thrived on mediocrity it is Las Vegas, the last thing they want is anything to actually challenge em.
Next vacation I take I think I’ll go to Vegas just to see Britney and the Beatles “Love” thingy. I bet they both suck.
