NFL Draft Entrance Songs

Drafting To Mainstream Hip Hop

Drafting To Mainstream Hip Hop

Last week a couple of dozen huge and fully grown men graduated from college to the NFL, where they will make millions for a couple of years and let’s hope they save up for a rainy day. If they don’t they will always have the NFL Draft where Mr. Johnny Football got drafted 22nd and Jadeveon Clowney got drafter first and Ha Ha Clinton Dix 21st , thereby giving Jimmy Fallon jokes for years to come.

But this is a music blog so let’s give a spin to the music they chose for their big entrance. Vulture posted em, we make snide comments about em. Let’s hope it’s not a tradition.

The Man – Aloe Blacc – Makes sense right, I mean who pernofies big bruisers better than Elton John? – B

Happy – Pharrell Williams – I guess, I mean, what else right? – B+

Blow Up – J. Cole – Deep album cut off an OK hip hop rap album – C

Look What You’ve Done – Drake – Masterful Drake off his best album but why? – A-

Going The Distance – Bill Conti – Off “Rocky” it is a pumped up instrumental – B

Trophies – Young Money, Drake – Real good song for sure, and I guess they’re be hoping for Trophies so it makes sense – A-

We Dem Boyz – Wiz Khalifa – Holla holla – B

They Don’t Love You No More – DJ Khaled – And a cast of thousands, but he shoulda gone with “All I DO Is Win”, right? – B

Rock City – Kings Of Leon – I am, frankly, surprised! – B+

Ride 4 My Niggaz – FI – The guy is new to me but pretty good flow – B

We Made It – Souldja Boy – And Drake, pretty good anthemic backtrack – B

Everything – Young Jeezy – “Get money…”? Now we are getting to the point of all this – B

Dreams And Nightmares – Meek Mill – The best rap[pper who should be much bigger – B+

Never Would Have Made It – Marvin Sapp – I guess there is one Born Again in the crowd -B-

Icy – Gucci Mane – Never fully recovered from his stint in jail – B

The World’s Greatest – R. Kelly – Ho hum r&b ballad – C+
