Iced Tea is a joke. He is so old and is now more famous for his wife’s boobs than his outstanding music career. We need the cash though so a man gotta do what a man gotta do!
Although I wasn’t a huge fan of the Tea as a solo rapper his venture in to metal was a delight. Body Count came forth with some of the greatest lyrics with some of the toughest music of its time- but that was decades ago.
Sumerian Records has stepped up to bring them back to me with a new LP due out on June 10th called Manslaughter.
“People have been asking me to do some music, and I haven’t really been inspired to do hip hop for a while, ’cause hip hop kind of got really pop to me,” Ice-T said. “But my band always wants to play, so we decided to do an album. We got signed to Sumerian Records. We finished the album. It’s called ‘Manslaughter’. We shot the first video. We did the album cover. It’ll be out June 10. And it’s brutal. It’s brutal.”
Brutal. Shows how old he his- so Im not sure who speaks that way any longer. Although only 56 years old time has not been kind. I am not so much concerned with the sound of his voice but the content of his words. When you’re basically living the lifestyles of the rich and famous, can you really hit home lyrically with the hood?
Kanye et all sure can but Iced Tea is older and more jaded…it’ll be interesting to hear! In the meantime check out their self titled 1992 offering. Its absolutely stellar!!
