Yesterday was one of those long days at work. my ‘go to’s’ on days like that are: pray like mad, eat delicious snack-ables at break times and put something pretty in my hair and if, like yesterday it was wearisome I also tend to gently drift in my mind to what DVD shall i cozy myself with that night.
I love dvd nights, X-men, Spiderman, a good cartoon (your never too old i say) maybe a Jane Austin or Bronte film or how about a bio about an actor/ress or rock star music video (i still say that no one, not even Axel Rose himself will ever be able to re-capture the pure magic of the video to Guns and Roses song ‘sweet child o mine’) or how about a comedy, or sitcom?
Sometimes my night pans out as well as i’d hoped, sometimes it…..well here’s one instance of the flip side…. I’m trying to watch X-men first class last week and I have to stop for something. (this DVD is on a disk of 3 and x-men is number 2), so instead of going to last memory as usual when I stop the DVD player, it went to the first part of the first DVD…so, fast forward, fast forward and get to where i need to be, and i have to stop again and it all happens again…aggravating…off again….and yep i have to stop AGAIN!! This time i put it on pause, ha that’ll fix it, nope! so Fast Forward again but this time i unfortunately FF to the end of my film and yep, have to start over again, this is not very restful, but when I get to the point I was at again, snuggle down on the sofa, dog beside me and then…..the DVD player runs out of battery!!!!!
Ah well, there I did have to laugh, that was then funny. However I do have some very successful nights, one of my very favorites being about 2 years ago and it was December, freezing, the automatic doors to the shop i worked at then wouldnt shut(?!!) and having had Christmas things for sale since September I was seriously ho-ho-ho-ed out by November!
So narked, cold and fed up, I cheered myself up with the thoughts of Morecambe and Wise DVD night but which of the many to watch I wondered. well that decision was made for my by my uncle who had only come all the way from America and watched the Elton John m&w skit with me! The way uncle behaved anyone would have thought he’d come over just to watch this with me and if he was jetlagged or tired he sure didn’t show it as we sat there laughing away to Elton exasperated ‘ gah, i cant work like this’ said to Morecambe who kept getting every thing wrong, or earlier where after asking elton what his name was Morecambe fell about laughing and said ‘elton! sounds like an exit on the motorway!’
Ah m&w, and the best company to watch it with? Now thats what i call a result!
And what dvd did i watch last night?, the 1970s sitcom Dad’s Army, very, very good.
