Lita Ford To Jones Beach In July
I’ve had a soft spot for Lita Ford ever since she shared her turkey sandwich with me back in the early 1980s. People don’t forget moments like that.

Dee is releasing an album in which he slaughters all that is good about Broadway. Giving us his renditions of the classic songs we came to love.
If I was dead, I would trip right down to Austin and go from one show to another and sit on the stage, or dance, depends upon the band, and have the musicians move through my invisible ethereal body.
I am so pissed that Glee of all people beat me to fun. That’s ridiculous. And not just Glee but Spotify had them play when they introduced their apps back in Novemember. So here, from the better never than late, congrats to fun. for their second week at # 1.
Over Adele by a mere 1,400 units, a win is a win. And in this day and age, 196,000 is OK. Bruce’s third consecutive number one. Still, think it will go Gold? How? Otherwise, what the heck is Andrew Bird doing there???
Here’s why I am listening to a son from an album whose lead track is “Here Come the ’80s”. I went to see the Stones tribute Tuesday night, Rosanne Cash sang “Gimme Shelter”, Cash covered this song on her brilliant Somewhere In The Stars album. Crowell was not only Cash’s husband at the time, but he wrote the song himself and did a pretty good job singing it. Not as good… Grade:A-
A corking good idea at first glance: the Stones classic double greatest hits album, Hot Rocks.. performed in sequence from one end to the other, with three ringers thrown in for the heck of it. At Carnegie Hall Tuesday night.
To fully appreciate their fusion of breaks, electro, hip-hop and every other form of music that whips a crowd up into a sweaty, writhing heap of body parts, it’s best to see NBTD live
It’s nothing like their previous albums passion-wise and it felt lame. However, it’s totally grown on me and it’s the only thing I’ve been listening to for the past 24 hours.
Walking down an icy grave, leading to my Schizophrenic father. Weeping willow won’t you wallow louder, searching for my father’s power…he’s a black magic wielder some say a witch.”
Seeing them live is a celebration of life, which can turn a little too mushy at times (yeah this is a love feast!), but it sure will make you happy if you still can feel your feet after all that jumping and bouncing.
Can you tell me why Del Rey is sold everywhere as indie? She appears as a revamped, I-play-the-small-places singer (she had gigs at Amoeba and the Troubadour here!) while she is on the big Interscope label
The man has evolved and matured and from some perspectives not for the better. His latest single “Out of The Game” venutres in to the younger generations issues.
They advertised Night Moves on the gay escort service website Rent Boy. If you’re gay I highly recommend it, these guys have the biggest magic wands on earth.
Using this logic, this will be our last summer. Don’t worry about skin cancer so no need for sunscreen. Just be fat drunk and stupid cuz in a few months we’re all done anyway.
Gene Simmons will open the first Rock & Brews restaurant April 3 in El Segundo, Calif. designed “with an ambiance reminiscent of being back stage at a rock event
Life is an entirely subjective experience, it is about what happens to me. And it always ends the same way, in death. And death always comes to soon. If we lived 1,000 years maybe not. But a hundred? Max? It isn’t long enough.
this song, like so many off those first two albums, was about one of the sexiest voices in the business. Chrissie is all come on, all flirt, all casual tension And it is also a perfect melodic countrpoint to the vocal and lyric, the break seems to be rushing head first into a new romance and the verses and choruses are oddly coy. Grade: A+
Bethany Consentino’s bright vocals with lots of stretched syllables and repetitive lyrics,… how many times does she say ‘you don’t know why I cry’ anyway?
My feelings about Laura Marling are pretty well known by now, right? I hated her for years, got buzzed by an obscure album track, on one wild Sunday night caught her at the McCattrick Hotel (wild? I went to see Jane Birkin the same night) and have been a complete fanatic ever since.
I have never seen Garbage live but this is the treat of all treats. Playing a tiny club in Boston (and other locations, of course) Shirley and the boys will bring their recorded genius to the eyes.
As great a flying song as Chuck Berry has written, as great a Chuck Berry song as John Lennon has written. Just Bruce and his guitar, flying thru the New Jersey highways in the space between night and morn, waiting for rock and roll to deliver him as he delivers us.
I’m a hotspot, I’m running a hotspot, at the end, does it matter for this homeless guy as along as he can make money? I am aware it is a temporary help, but it is better that nothing.
Nothing surprising. Every US state has some random law that no longer suits society. Why Rowntree decided to make it a great revelation is beyond me. Let’s hope he gets busted so we can see what happens
For the great white hope guitarist whose gift is his fingers and his cavalier way with women (it inspired Taylor Swift’s awful “Dear John”),but it is his voice that has stopped him in his tracks with a type of cyst above his vocal cords. He had an operation and with the annoucement of an upcoming tour, the world at large thought Mayer was finally back.
She claims she is going to die of excitement on her Twitter. I don’t wish her dead, I do wish she would drop the false front and be human again but I don’t see that happening any time soon.
Bruce believes in his new album. If he thought it was a dog he wouldn’t play that much of it. Which answers the question as to whether Rolling Stone were lying. I think he has overdone “Ball” here but maybe he will shake it up later on. And I can’t believe he is opening with “We Take Care Of Our Own” -though I may be in the minority, I think time will prove me right.
The music is your expected club music, with lots of dance-floor-disco rhythms, some cheerleader-lines in the mix and techno-beats turning madly hypnotic, while you are watching disturbing and bloody night club scenes
Now here is the problem. The 29th is a Sunday. For the most part, I won’t do Sundays. I went to that Coldplay radio City gig, right? It knocked me for a loop all week. Then I have a Monday, which I might have done and a Tuesday which I won’t.
So this set list is from St. Louis and while it does vary from town to town, it is essentially a third from King Of Limbs, a fifth off OK Computers and a whole lotta odds and sods. Plus a new one.
Mozart, and apparently it’s quite sexy. I wouldn’t know from that, not quite, but the violin/piano interplay has a lot of tension. They seem to interprete each other before going their own way. Leionard is the violinist and it feel like she is keeping the piano in check, he keeps on building and then she stops him and he recedes again. Grade: A-
In L.A. it would be considered A GOOD WEEK, in Cleveland a good month. Over here it is a quandary, a world filled with sound and vision!!! And we can only go to one. And nyc is the capital of live music. London can’t claim this sort of night.
I just remember reading about some $5,800 high-heels-sweater shoes from his fall collection, which looked like some Mad Max footwear from hell
Matt Skiba and the Sekrets released a new tune called “All Fall Down” and I’m not exactly sure why I’ve never heard anything by them before, because I’ve been missing out.
You might think this has something to say about hiomosexuality, but it doesn’t. If you need to be told it was safer for homosexuals to remain closeted in the 1950s, you haven’t been paying intention. And if they have made MacGregor a bigot, anti-gay, you might have had an interesting conflict. But Ewan loves gay, and his dad, and his Mom. What is the nivelling shits problem?
laughing in front of a funny video, drinking a glass of alcohol (yes!), or doing any other relaxing activity have demonstrated the important benefit to ‘not paying attention’, and not being focused in the creativity process
“He was “totally left brain, and I have none. Mostly we argued . . . He said he could create with a computer a classical quintet that would be as magnificent as any there ever was. I said there couldn’t be the soul in it.”
band is the generic modeling clay for every mall walker. A very small demographic that in 18 months will move out of this pep squad sound to more mature fields.
Kelly Clarkson takes on Paramore and boots Hayley and her boys down the stairs. This version is a thousand times more believable and heart felt than Williams could dream of. Why?
there are the usual suspects, Bono, The Edge, Chris Martin, Eddie Veder, and Sting who jumped on the project as predicted. However, I am intrigued by Beck’s ‘Corrina,
Dexys Midnight Runners are now Dexys. They lost half their name and half their fun. The oddest offering for free download on their soundcloud page is “Nowhere Is Home”.
Well, do the math: it costs just about nothing to get the music, and a c note for a tix to the concert. And concert tix are not fueled by sales all the time. U2, and Bon Jovi for the two most obvious examples haven’t charted strong in years.
Ah yes, editing a music blog. 5 years I knew two of the songs on the February and except for Justin, not all that well. 2012, I know all of them and the albums they came off as well!
Why the hell is an Irish boy band getting a big push from ITunes? Because their record company is paying for it, that’s why. Otherwise, wow, nothing major going on here. Miike Snow, I guess.
Girls Like You – The Naked And The Famous – An infectious rethinking of glam rock for the post-electronic age but a couple out of Auckland, New Zealand, many miles from home, and dealing with a harsh reality. Beauty is skin deep. Grade: B+
Bruce could write, “My business manager is investing in gold and Euro Dollars but I don’t wanna know…” that would be brutally honest. Or get to the bottom of the rift between him and his audience, how “he walks this world in wealth” and yet feels pain and empathy for people he must be wondering about. I mean, do they even exist? They sure can’t afford tickets to his shows
Dressed in black of course, and almost constantly hiding behind her long dark hair, it was difficult to see any of her facial expressions, whereas her vocals were blurry and haunting,
One more hit, one more bank failure, if the dollar gets devalued, if Israel blows up Irans nuclear facility, ANYTHING, and that’s it for a generation. Kids graduating High School now may never get a job. So where is the music to go along with the real dread?
Enter the Live at Montreux 2008, a DVD/Blu-ray. Yup, we cant get anything new but we sure as heck can watch five year old footage of a band that will never regroup.
I realized that, like their atmospheric sound, the band is a patchwork of other bands as it is often the case: Kate Hall is an ex-member of Mika Miko, Stephanie Chan played in both Austin bands Finally Punk and The Carrots, guitarist Mark Greshowak
