If you can imagine the music without the stagecraft, the wall would have toppled before intermission. It simply isn’t all that great. Sure, “Brick” and “Numb”, and an incessant motif, are good to great but this is two hours worth of songs summed up in 7 minutes.The playing is great but anonymous. It reminds me of McCartney in 1989, here he had a buncha sidemen play note perfect versions of his old songs.

The Floridians earliest album mixed the sublime with the political. But he has learnt his lesson over the years, and, as the Redfoo track proves, he is in it for the pop. No problem. Not a song here isn’t a blast in the right club. But none of it will last the summer – Grade: B

The red-light and fog-machine ambiance was just increasing a certain idea of danger which was escaping from their music, going from a car-chase soundtrack to a spacey-shoegaze-psychedelic rock to a new-wave-techno dance for a dark nightclub after midnight hours
Hopefully, people will eventually realize that what they’re listening to is nothing more than a weak attempt at making billions of dollars, and that music is there to inspire you- not just make you want to dance.
When Zedd is performing at Camp Bisco next week, “Spectrum” is sure to get everyone’s feet off the ground while thoroughly blowing their minds and I’ll be sure to have a front row spot.

Farm Aid, although misdirected, at least makes and attempt to educate and entertain. The Farm Aid website even offers up some thought provoking information on genetically engineered food- please at least read that. Support your local farmers and better yet grow as much of your own food as you can
The women love him. For some reason there are more 40+ housewives who find the hair replacement rocker swoon worthy. To me he resembles a army duffel bag. Sorta wrinkly and worn. So these are our songs of summer and I am happy to see carly at the top because I am sick of it being Perry plus both Perry and Gotye’s songs are depressive stuff, while Carly is so damn catchy it has become part of the vernacular and frankly I love it.
Surprised that Linkin Park beat out Maroon 5? I’m not, but I will be shocked if they do next week. A popular rock band can hit the charts when the fanbase buy a new album, but what they can’t do is sustain it without hit singles.
Til lKingdom Come – Coldplay – A lugubrious over cooked piece of crap that thinks its an important folk rock almost acoustic drag. This is everything the world hates about Coldplay. It can’t help herself, it thinks it is major and it isn’t. The drummer drumming line is the giveaway – Grade:D

With their bouncy youth-hymns and their shouted vocals, they filled up the room with a trashy-careless attitude and some sunny arrangements. Especially, their blond-hair frontman and singer, Mario Cuomo, was some sight: Moving all over the place, his drunken dance had probably found some inspiration in someone like Iggy Pop
Florence plus the Machine are very interesting to me. I wouldn’t want to see them live but when I stumble upon them I pause to think of why I don’t like them more. The chick vocal is a reason I suppose but I think more than that is there is an element missing that I simply cannot put my finger on.
It is actually a real shame that Ocean had to keep his sexual preference quiet for so long. As you may note below, friends were keeping it a secret for him. Finally, Ocean wrote about it coming in which he writes about his first love, a man he met at the beach in 2008. This is a beautiful story, well done Frank.
M83’s last album ‘Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming’ has received a critical acclaim and a real success in the US with many sold out shows all over the country, and a headlining spot at the next FYF Fest. This next step seems to be a major one for Anthony Gonzalez
so a lot of individual achievements, the first four best of the year are solo artists. # 5 is a shocker, out of left field has blown me away. ANd if you double the amount of best albums we are at 80… down a bit but the tracks should be larger. Why? Musicians are having trouble sustaining albums since they don’t have to.

Till I Die – Chris Brown – Featuring WIz and Big Sean and Sean gets the “OK, wow, look at me now…” line. But this song is the best produced pop song I’ve heard all year. There is a distracted, dozy drugginess that barely hides all the malice in the world. It’s like the hot calm before the shoot on in the opening of a Leone movie – Grade: A
Eva capturing lightning in a bottle and the mix going very , very House. In the age of dubstep, Eva is a little old fashioned but if you are more interested in songs than beats, House is a better place for you and the audience agreed as they dance wildly to every song.
