Dowland: Come Again: Sweet Love Doth Now Invite – Danielle de Niese – I prefer the tremendous lyrical Soprano when de Niese is singing Handel, even if that's nitpicking., this Dowland piece from the mid-1500s is like a trip back to Shakespearean (though it is much earlier), wandering minstrels stuff. It makes you nostalgic for a past that happened 100s of years before you – Grade: A-.
2. Fantasm – Ravi Coltrane – I was about to compare this to Davis circa In A Silent Way but then noticed his last name and decided against it – Grade: B+
3. Till I Die – Chris Brown – Wow, bow, look at me now… – Grade: A
4. Things We Do For Love – 10 cc – Like "Song Sung Blue" anyone can sing it – Grade: A
5. Crosstown Traffic – Jimi Hendrix – That opening riff? Damn, this has to be Hendrix best pop song – Grade: A+
6. Semi-Pseudo Sorta Pain – Mission Of Burma – Fuzzy! Grade: B+
7. I Wanna Talk To You – John Cale – Great Welshman, plays it straight on this old fashioned rocker – Grade: B+
8. Benediction – Thurston Moore – Mainstream rocker plus strings??? – Grade: B+
9. Comfortably Numb – Glimpsed from miles away – Grade A+
10. Sorry – Friends – Working its way towards song of the year (two years later, I know) – Grade: A
