From An IPhone 6

I was trying my bag on to the car and I had a bunch of other things too and I dropped my phone, which I’ve dropped around 100 times and he hasn’t broken, and it landed on its back and it broke the screen. $700 later and I am listening to 1989 non stop, I’m sure I’ll get round to downloading the rest of my music, till then: the best 5 songs on the new Taylor Swift album:

Let's Active: rock nyc's concert picks for week of December 8th, 2014

Of course, this is the biggest concert of the season, maybe the second biggest Jingle Ball ever. 2012 clips it because Taylor Swift and One Direction clip Taylor Swift and 5 Seconds Of Summer even if Tay is a bigger star than ever right now. Even so, Meghan Trainor, Calvin Harris, Iggy Azalea… geez a who’s who for pop 2014 that’s for sure. This Friday AT MSG, it is Jingle Ball time.

I like Royce but anticipating? I am sick of Ghostface and never liked Angels & Airiwaves. So it is between the Smashing Pumpkins and J. Cole. The songs off the SP album already released are uniformly excellent but J. Cole was so great on stage this year, I’m going with him.

Warped Tour 2015: Let The Announcements Begin

Will I support Warped? Hell yes I will. They need a mom on board but now when I attend it’s with the jaded eye of a skeptic, what will they do next to sour my romanticized version of the event? I can’t even imagine but I have faith in Kevin Lyman and his band of masterminds to not make this Disneyworld

We here at rocknyc have never had a problem discussing this topic. Fact is our society frowns upon it and hide as you like it happening all the time and in your town. Rock and Rollers just happen to have an entourage that can protect them from being ‘exposed

Kathleen Edwards Talks (Just Not To Us)

“I have people who come in and say, ‘Hey, I hear you used to be a singer. I’m still a singer. But the priority is somewhere else for now. I’m working my ass off, and I’m exhausted. But I’m happy. I’m really happy. I was emotionally exhausted for years. This is different, and good.”

Always – Willie Nelson And Sister Bobbi – Always a pleasant song no doubt, but can he take it any slower. Look, I get it Willie is an old pothead with a sweet melodious voice and he can make music via alchemy but he can’t make invigorating music by alchemy and this is really faded love – B

Sleater-Kinney Share A New Song, 'Surface Envy’

This is a great come back as the fury contained in this second song, ‘Surface Envy’, truly demonstrates it. The descending crescendo of the guitar starting the song with the pounding drums combined with Tucker’s famous yell are a total thrill, it’s an empowering full-force ride that culminates into some serious damage

Billboard claim their new mix and match has affected the placement of Ariana Grande in firmaments, because it was streaming that accounted for enough of her sales to push her onto the top ten: “It moved 72,000 units for the week, heavily powered not just by album sales (47,000), but also track equivalent albums (19,000) and streaming equivalent albums (6,000)”

There seems to be zero change here from before they were counting streams –this is exactly what you’d expect, and if every 10 sales equals 1500 streams it might be a long time before you do whatever the claim is. By the way, Bruno Mars? James Brown is so great even lame ass copies sound good.

U2 Want Fifty Bucks For Their Presale Code At MSG

It is just bad news, it’s just nasty stuff, forcing people who can’t afford it to dig deeper is U2’s MO, they always do it and now they’ve done it again. Hell, even Taylor Swift gave the presale codes free to her fanbase, don’t U2 have enough money where they are forcing us to dig even deeper; U2 have only one thing to tell us: shut up and pay me. Innocence postponed.
