State Of Grace – Taylor Swift – One of Taylor’s best songs though it took awhile to catch on, the killer pay off, “Love’s a ruthless game unless you play it good and right” has three very very strong words and Swift nails each and every one of them. And the sound is exuberant, it is darkly shaded (which is why it took awhile) but that’s because that “unless” is right on top of you – Grade: A

With his smart mixture of loud, fast, garage-punk-rock and some surf-y-psychedelic detours à la The Oh Sees, they brought the energy to the roof as soon as they started their set, and damn, they were good! It sounded a little retro and totally fresh at the same time, never nostalgic
I will take James Brown on The One and no melody or I will take Smokey Robinson and melody to die for, but I don’t get either with Frank Ocean (or the Weeknd or Miguel…). 88 – Digsy – A study in being 17 years old and looking back on a hip hop world you were never a part of. This is first rate piece of teen-hop with a dream of a future, or a past not unlike the Reverand’s himself – Grade: A
McCartney is a legend. Hes a well oiled well maintained classic car that still blows away the whippersnappers. The problem here is he is squished on to Saturday Night Lives stage of horror. Yet, like a Christmas miracle puts forth a beautiful rendition of one of his new songs.
Now what does bluesy means? The Black Keys are bluesy, the Stones are bluesy, Eric Clapton is bluesy, but this tune sounds nothing like that, no, this one is more film-noir with an intriguing atmosphere, more Tom Waits’ kind-of-blues.
