This is about as thrilling an album chart as you are going to get. 5 of the top 6 are new and 9 of the top 10 is first rate. A real mish mash but two surprises, Tiesto’s best track in a long while is EDM one oh one witht hat steamrolled bet pattern all over it as written a hundredtimes but stillf resh and Buju Banton who ws still in prison the last I looked so either this was recorded behind bars or it is an outtakeand either it is a very good song, dancehall one oh one true, but there is no escaping the voice.

In 1986, Lyte rejoined the Comets and played with them till he retired 2011. So we had our first big rock and roll band playing for us till two years ago. No doubt, Laura Marling is the one to beat and I wouldn’t be the slightest surprised to discover it is the best album of 2013 after hearing just two songs. But it looks like a modern classic of a week: Polyphonic Spree, Tricky, the Stranglers,. Plus: the Rolling Stone “5 Star” new Fogerty. New? Re-recordings of the classics with stars, sorta B+ listers, like Bob Seger and Foo Fighters. I agree, RS are probably wrong but David Fricke wrote it so who knows.

I loved how there were more musicians than just the three in the band- they had horns and more guitars and everything that they needed; it was a show, and the added elements made the music part of it sound just like how it does on the albums.

The new Texas is excellent and it is always a pleasure to hear from the band, my old pal Johhny Mcelhone and his wife Sharleen Spiteri have lost nothing much. I notice “Detroit City”, Ramona’s old track, is here. Meanwhile, Daft Punk continue to rule the world with the UKs most populr best selling album of 2013.
Six of these songs are from Saturday/Sunday morning’s DFA’s anniversary gig and all are excellent and all are better live but especially “Dystopia” which I kinda wish I had taped so I could hear it instead of the original. Though the proceedings were being taped so maybe DFA will beat me to it.
DFA at Grand Prospect Hall had the potential to be one of the great concerts of all time. A losing my edge “I was there when…” moment in New York musical history, but it didn’t come close because greed or stupidity or just poor judgement made any attempts to fulfill the evenings potential thwarted
The music was flooding the space and the monster sound was the kind of thing my iPhone couldn’t handle – I tried to film a little bit when the guard wasn’t watching but it sounds like crap.
Like the entire evening, it was all a case of he who lives by the pop rocker that pops will die by the pop rocker that flops. Come back the Vandals all is forgiven.
Whether the song required soulful blues, piercing slide guitar, tidal wave metal riffs and solos, or simple punk rock chords, Vaden hit every mark perfectly. Expert timing, wonderful tone. He knows when to lay back and when to take the reins

Musicians who want to make a difference in a community that is not their own and selflessly give is a wonderful thing, regardless of whether or not you assume they’re doing it for the press. What Blink 182 has done was recognise that they could make a serious difference, which this auction will do.
The good news is that Alice’s greatest hits filled setlist could’ve come at just about any post- Welcome To My Nightmare period, the bad news is so could the special effects and the good news is that the cheesiness of Cooper’s special effects are part of the charm
