As everyone knows, Oklahoma has just been devastated by a tornado, and Oklahoma is the state of the Flaming Lips.
In the meantime, the Flaming Lips had asked their fans to create the craziest-weirdest t-shirt ever to celebrate their last album ‘The Terror’, quite appropriately entitled considering what these people from Oklahoma have just endured. With the help of Threadless – the website selling the t-shirts – they now have announced that $10 for every t-shirt sold will go to the American Red Cross to benefit the Oklahoma tornado victims.
You can even pre-order the t-shirt here, but be aware that the design hasn’t been chosen yet,… anyway, this is for an awesome cause! You can also participate into the Flaming Lips Design Challenge and propose a design for the shirt. Their website gives all the directions and recommendations, but basically, you must submit a high resolution of your design, that the Threadless community will score 1 to 5.
You can look at the shirts that have already been submitted here. Err, let’s just say that some are really fearless, other ones very busy and all of them are extremely weird, and I have uploaded 2 of them, with some quite original designs.
The submission ends on June 3rd, so there’s not much time left, but if your design wins this challenge, look at all the goodies you will get:
