Kanye West's Screenings For 'New Slaves' Shut Down By Police In Houston This Weekend

GAH!

This weekend, Kayne West‘s ‘New Slaves’ was projected once again on buildings around the US, and something quite unexplained happened in Houston, Texas.

The video was planned to be projected at three places in Houston, on the Rothko Chapel, the Central Library and the George Bush Monument. Curiously, the police shut down the chapel screening and threatened people. According to this day and dream blog, police officers said to people ’they were on private property and would be arrested for trespassing if they did not disperse’

Eventually, the three Houston screenings were cancelled, but fans were confused because they were first told there were technical difficulties,.. just read what happened at the central library:

‘HPD officers finally relented and allowed for the video to be played with a blue Panasonic screen popped up on the side of the Central Library. However, just as the Next Episode coordinator was set to press play on the video after the rush of people flocked over to see the screening up close & personal it was shut down altogether and the Next Episode crew was threatened with a fine with if they played the video.’

The crowd chanting ‘Kanye’ or ‘Yeezus’ didn’t change anything. So what went on exactly? Did the police order to shut down the projections because they were too controversial for Texas? Was Kayne West’s video a threat? Were they expecting a riot? And why nobody is trying to find out the cause of these unjustified cancellations?
