Remember The Police? They really owned new wave for a long time crossing from the post punk to pop in an easy glide. Three blonde boys with catchy hooks and fresh faces. My how things have changed.
Two members have gotten together in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the album “Synchronicity”. THIRTY YEARS? Is that even possible?
Think about it, The Police were staples on MTV when MTV actually had the M!
“In The Studio” is a syndicated radio show hosted by infamous DJ Redbeard. Who had this to say in self promotion of this big event “You could debate whether the first four Police albums warranted booking them into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but this fact is certain: Synchronicity was so massively appealing that millions purchased it as well as the preceding four Police albums in numbers great enough to place all five on the 1983 sales chart simultaneously at year’s end! “Formed in 1977 London at the height of the punk rock scene, the reggae influences so prominent on the first four albums had been diluted by the time of Synchronicity’s June 1983 release, so The Police were not handcuffed by the musical conventions of either punk or reggae on mega-hits ‘Every Breath You Take’, ‘King of Pain’, ‘Wrapped Around Your Finger’, and the title song
Personally, I was a fan of Regatta de Blanc, the rest was too popular to me. But I am stunned that so many years have past since ‘Don’t Stand So Close To Me’. Just look where the world has taken these guys now- Sting is a total knob, Copeland scores masterpieces..and where the hell is the other guy with the least famous name?
Chilling with Andy Rourke maybe?
