Happy Mondays Are Here Again

The Tour doesn’t just start and end with The Happy Mondays though.. no it gets more painful to miss. The Stone Roses and Joy Division. From that news you can hear the collective tears of geezers such as myself who would die to be in attendance at this event

MFT 2-4-12

The problem here isn’t the (over) singing which is great, especially Neap. Or the production which is pretty perfect especially the drums with an extra echo on the back flip. Or the sentiments, which are kinda funny, “act like a woman, think like a man”. It’s the song. Which sucks

No Gary Glitter At The Super Bowl

Lets see he was first arrested for child porn in 1999, then the dumbass wasnt smart enough to keep it on paper and got busted in 2005 for “committing obscene acts with children”. He got some jail time for it- poofed off to Vietnam.

The Kaiser Chiefs "On The Run", Reviewed

They’re one of the bands I love but that simply don’t stick in my iPod. Very good but never great enough. This song could well change that. The vocals are gorgeous, and the music is a calliope of twenty million rhythms.

The Wonder Years Acoustic "Don't Let Me Cave In"

The Hopeless Records heroes have some of the most intricate melody and lovely vocals for a ‘post punk / hardcore’ band. I wouldn’t consider them any of those genre’s though. The Wonder Years are quite simply quality rock and roll. I love their thought provoking lyrics that are delivered a bit more intelligently than most bands.

Red Hot Chili Peppers Setlist For 2012

So, I took a look at the setlists they’ve been playing and the first thing I notice is, along with “Under The bridge” and “Scar Tissue” is… NO “This Is The Place”!!! Hey, no “Brendan’s Death Song” either. Actually, not that much from the newbie.

MFT 2-3-12

These guys can get too far out their even for my tastes, a rambunctious, beat heavy slam. And this is more of the same, but at least the drum triplicates are a nice hook and the words are chanted but not so harsh you want to run away and hide.

Ringo Starr Interviewed By Russell Brand

the questions ranged from personal advice for someone’s son (whom these people think Ringo is? Dr. Phil?) to complex, convoluted pseudo-philosophical ones, the kind of questions that never finish and were certainly longer than any possible answer Ringo could give.

The Fray "Scars + Stories" and Tour

For some reason these ‘drone’ bands gather up large masses of Walmart shoppers and get them plucked enough to get an applause and some hits. It could be a government plot- but no one is allowed to talk about it.

Scalping Springsteen

So you see it’s a matter of persisitance. Both he and I were kicked out with error for the Izod show yet we just kept trying. C’mon we cant stop scalpers, heck in some cases we need them but really lets not pretend its not obviously a blip on the screen.

Best Concerts Of 2012 Thru January 31st

How Campbell managed to maintain his cheer, his demeanor, his happiness, in a situation that, simple age not being the only problem, but with his life drawing to a close, is a testament to music and to a certain power of faith and good will.

MFT 2-2-12

Never before has a band been so aptly named. In business since the 1990s, they have a spritely power pop sound that exudes youthfulness and high spirits and fervor and this, from their first album in five years, has lost nothing. Eager and able to please, it is just terrific.

Nada Surf at Amoeba on Monday, January 30th, 2012, Reviewed

Nada Surf was doing an in-store performance at Amoeba on Monday, and they did it acoustically, with guitars and bass played by frontman Matthew Caws, Daniel Lorca and recent addition, Doug Gillard (whom Caws introduced as someone he has admired for a long time), as well as the light drumming of Ira Elliot, who was not even using a drum set.

Jay-Z At Carnegie Hall? No Thanks…

At $750? I don’t think so. .By the way I could have gone to see Mumford And Sons, Coldplay and, er, Jon Stewart, at Amnesty International’s “The Policeman’s Ball”. Thankfully, the $550 cost stopped me. I chose not to go.

Thick as a Brick Tour, But No Jethro Tull

But what? There will be no Jethro Tull, it will be Ian Anderson, flautest and leader of the iconic 70s band. Anderson who would get his beard in a bundle if you called him Jethro, has now decided its best he take over this one.

McCartney Takes Too Much Credit For "Yesterday"

It is strange, but very human, for McCartney to have bent the truth with his co-writer not around to question him. “Yesterday” is a signature acheivement (incidentally, I can’t stand it), and even with all the accolades Macca has received, he still wants one he doesn’t deserve

MFT 2-1-12

Around the time Usher released this huge hit, he was well on his way to becoming what he claimed he most wanted to: the next Michael jackson. But the problem with being the next MJ is not black, it’s white. Usher couldn’t crossover all the way, he wasn’t quite poppy enough and there was an edge of sexual intimidation with him.
