Best Songs Of 2012 Thru January 31st, 2012

1.Sidecar – Kathleen Edwards – Anything that opens with a call to "wake up, wake up, wake up…" will either kill or it won't. This one does and works its magic, love as a wake up call.

2. Bad Girls – M.I.A. – She is doing what everybody else is trying to. You can't hear modern pop without hearing her influence. And this song is yet another great dance number. It's the beat. I love the sample. Less keen on the vocals, but the beats are terrific.

3. One Note (excerpt 1) – dr. D.R. Barclay – best sample song ever.

4. Wasted Days – Cloud Nothings – Takes the entire album into a whole other level of greatness.

5.Comeback Kid – Sleigh Bells – Of course you can hear M.I.A.'s infl;uence on the rumbling, tinny beats. But not on the vocals.

6. You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go – Miley Cyrus – She gets the feeling clearer than most of the other dylan covers on the album.

7. Terminally Unique – Lamb Of Gods – Off the hardcore album of the year, this runs on its stomach.

8. No Love Lost – wiley – The album was a disappointment, but this song has a great hook and a really real rock star story.

9. Dreamer – Elizavata – The album is a drag but this song is like alice tiptoeing through the looking glass for a look see.

10. Simple Twist Of Fate – Diana Krall – I don't entirely buy her take on the song, but I entirely buy her piano on the song.

11. Radio – Lana Del rey – Untill they figure out why these songs are so gret, their discounting of the woman doesn't account for a damn thing.

12. My God – James Fortune and FIYA – Not certain about the album, but I'm certain about this Temptations rethink.
