Manchester UK is the birthplace of some of the coolest rock and roll of all time. Lets face it the concentration of greatness is miles thick and to this day the town keeps up the rep.
From the archives of greatness comes the news that The Happy Mondays are back- full original line up, and about to embark on tour. The problem with this fantastic news is that the tour is concentrated in the UK. Grrr… it seems to me that America will never be cool enough to get something like this but then again- maybe.. just maybe.
The Tour doesn’t just start and end with The Happy Mondays though.. no it gets more painful to miss. The Stone Roses and Joy Division. From that news you can hear the collective tears of geezers such as myself who would die to be in attendance at this event. Its more than just the music in a sentimental journey such as this. I suppose not that different from the blue hairs (blue as in grey not blue as in indigo punkers) to go see an act like The Four Tops. Sentimentality is a great thing. It makes us romanticize the past and tolerate the present just a bit more.
If you are able, seize this opportunity to see three legendary acts at one swoop. Pray for a US tour.
