MFT 2-16-12

A helluva long preamble to get to the heart of the matter, Babs and Armstrong’s love fest. It all sounds just wonderful -if you watch the movie, that minute makes it worth your while. Barbra sounds genuinely pleased to be singing with her equal, almost giggling. And wait till you hear how Armstrong scats on lap!

"One Drop", Public Image Ltd, Reviewed

This is not to say Lydon has lost his mojo- not at all. It is just interesting to hear an all so familiar voice with such obvious distortion. Its as if he should clear his throat or something, a warble in the resonance.

Drake Bell's “Speak My Mind” Reviewed

The beginning of any song is comparable to the first time you meet someone; first impressions are everything. However, I implore you to not be taken aback by your first impression of this song. It seems to start off like any other pop rock song but as it progresses, Drake’s passion breaks through the speakers and, trust me, it’ll turn you into a fan.

Stranglers and Sex Pistols…Sorta

Cornwell was with the Stranglers from 74-90, and is most responsible for their mainstream hits ‘Peaches’, ‘Nice and Sleazy’ and the lot. Matlock of course was the bitter bassist who never said a nice thing about the Pistols since the day that band died. He bailed in 1977 but jumped on the gravy train for some reunion stuff in 1996 and 2002-2003.

Lesbian Pop Stars

Our sexuality, even in this day and age, is somethat on the private side. Why would we choose to share it with any one? Why should rock stars? I don’t know but they do and then they try to hide behind it: sexual peekaboo.

Miranda Lambert Condemns Chris Brown

Miranda Lambert, whose parents run a home for battered women, almost had the courage of her twitters when she wrote: “Chris Brown twice? I don’t get it. He beat on a girl… Not cool that we act like that didn’t happen.”

Jay Z & Kanye "Nigga's In Paris" Reviewed

Most buzz now is the issue of Illuminati in rap. If you take the time to find out what that is, you’ve wasted too much time. I really cant see Jay Z or Kanye as ‘enlightened masterminds’ of anything but their own wallets

Magnetic Fields: No Religion

If I had to pick a religion to subscribe to, it would be Daoism, which only requires that you agree with one statement, which is that the middle path is a good idea. I don’t subscribe to that, but it’s only one statement that I disagree with rather than thousands

Adele On 60 Minutes, Who Was That Broad?

She writes about the loves shes lost and is love now with some Brit entrepreneur with a big beard but when she spoke of him, she giggled, and it appeared sincere. That was actually endearing. I’d hang out with her. She curses, shes sarcastic and hold strong opinions. No wonder I like her iin nterview.

Come to think of it this is a lovely gift for the serial killer or sociopath on your list. The jar is reusable to either throw at your loved ones, break to cut up friends or to kept in tact to store your roaches.

Sneak Peaks: Week Of February 13th, 2012

Part Of Me” is a terrible song as song goes. But as a ripped from her diary piece of vitroil it isn’t without its, well, not charms, amusements.. It so lacks in specifics, both musically and lyrically, it almost withstands meaning.

Dexy's Midnight Runners, 27 Years Later

But is the world ready for more Dexy? I can say with much confidence the US is not. The populace does not have the ear for this sound and unfortunately there are far too many other options, the second coming of DMR will not even score them a hit song.

Anthony Raneri, "Sandra Partial" live Reviewed

His voice is absolutely beautiful; he’s undoubtedly one of my top three favourite vocalists simply because his voice is so unique and beautiful. The tune is simple and catchy and lovable on the EP, but hearing him perform it makes it my new addiction.

UK Top 10 Albums -February 18th, 2012

I have a new theory about why acts like McCartney are charting again. In the 1990s his fanbase were younger and more willing to experiment with other music and leave the McCartney’s alone. Now, they just want the same old same old. And God knows, this album is the same old same old

You put on mask that make it hard to breath if you wear glasses and you wander through darkly lit mazes and pop in and out of rooms and spaces where you run into extremely fit looking athletic actors not wearing masks who, with minimal speech but lotsa balletic movements rush about from foom to room, often disappearing entirely (a bitch if you are trying to catch up with them.

Get OFF! At Burgerama

Sure, I have already seen most of these bands, but this is why I know it is a fantastic line-up, with OFF! and its old-school-Black-Flag-revival hardcore sound, Wavves and its distorted-surfing-messy-weedy melodies, Ty Segall and its sunny-garage-punkish-reverbing rock
