This take on a video game, wait or is it Hunger Games, wait.. or is it Deer Hunter or is it wait.. So poorly excecuted that we have no idea what theyre trying to say? Yes, thats it. This over budget GI Joe wanna be ‘Nam crap is laughable and pathetic. Im embarrassed for them.

Bobby Womack Has Colon Cancer

Even if you weren’t aware of Womack in the 1960s, you knew the Stones cover of “It’s All Over Now”, and even if youw eren’t paying that keen an eye to 1970s soul men no named Green, you knew “Across 110th Street”.

Really excellent rap and pop mix with a bluesdy backbone. The little girls who dig him should dig this, the little girls who are dropping him for One Direction will have a harder time. And the rest of us? Grade: A-

The Shins' 'Port of Morrow' Reviewed

Lyrics apart, the music of ‘Port of Morrow’ sounds extremely familiar, it is as fresh and charming as The Shins’ music has always been, there is brilliance, guitars layered with keyboards, wordless harmonies, inventive jumpy noises, earworms and big choruses, yes all this, with a twist.

Ol' Dirty Bastard To The Big Screen

I guess I am happy to get anything at all on the big screen. Maybe, as a framing reference, maybe as a cultural check and balance, But it still feels like there simply isn’t enough room to tell the story right. It’s like ODB isn’t big enough.

Dee Snider, “Cabaret” Reviewed.

Usually when an artist covers a song from a genre very different from their own, the cover has the same basic instrumental sound but with the covering artist’s own style. I saw no evidence of that in this tragic cover.

Not With The Band: Generation Y and Music

For them, some sort of music is always on, on their computers, phones or… from a noise in the street, they will listen to anything as long as it has some sort of rhythm,… and they want to listen to it all the time. Music is like oxygen around them, it is vital and part of their surrounding, but it is also regarded as some background element,

Nuances In The "N" Word In Rock And Roll Language

My point in self-evident, it is arrogant, self-righteous stupidity to NOT take context in mind in the use of offensive words. If hip hop is going to remove the whip sting of racism in the word “nigger”, by respelling and redefining it, from a euphemism for sub-human slave, to “brother” than why don’t they want it used that way.

Happy Birthday Lady Gaga

Her little monsters, the cast outs of society who simply cannot tell when their leader has sold out will hold all sort of raves in her honor. She really is the patron saint of lost souls.

thought maybe you would play a quick gig in nyc as long as you were in town. Maybe Roseland, wishful thinking Beacon Theater. And along with an AMEX presale I would have been so there. Well, six months later and still you are elsewhere.

"The Hunger Games" Reviewed (More Or Less)

it is like a mix of “The Truman Show” and “Survivor” with the lamest heroes and villains on earth. With nobody to much give a shit about it drags for a coupla hours and then stops and even the ending isn’t such a rush. Lawrence is lousy in the lead, and her love interest is beyond cipheric. He isn’t there at all and has all the passion of, I dunno, somebody with no passion.

UK Top 10 Albums, March 31st, 2012

Sometimes I forget how big Weller is in the UK -too much of the time he is just the Godfather of Punk, a younger Pete Townsend or something. In the UK he has a vibrant, conitnuing career. Actually, he does in nyc as well.

Singles Going Steady: Album Reviews Week Of March 19th, 2012

RUN DMC’s kid 17 year old Diggy is thorough on this soul hop album of intense beauty, smarts and prettiness. I am not crazy about Diggy’s voice, but the songs are all the bomb, especially “88” and “Unforgiveable Blackness” and thematic he worries about the devolution of the Black American dream. Grade: A-
