The Kinks Contribute To Record Store Day

Those crazy Kinks, getting a portion of the fun by releasing 3 lps for the Record Store Day event.   A reissue  remaster regurgitation.

Face to Face  from 1966, 2lp on colored vinyl.

Something Else another 2LP edition on colored vinyl this one includes “Death of a Clown” and finally ‘Arthur’ from 1969 on white vinyl.

Each reissue was re-mastered from original tapes by Kinks archivist Andrew Sandoval and is limited to 500 copies in the UK, all of which are individually numbered.

Record Store Day is a cool hipster idea that simply is too hip.  I’m sure those that participate are die hard audiophiles and the rest just use them as decoration and wait for the digital download of the vinyl.  It is good though, to support your local shop (if you still have one).  As Alyson often reports LA keeps the dream alive with instore performances and events that you simply will not see in my neck of the woods.  To get vinyl here you have to thrift shop or you’re out of luck.

Kinks are cool though, so this is worth the effort if only to say you took part in it.
