Ah yes, the glorious results of misspent youth saw teenage Iman partying hard in West (and east!) Beirut, part of the multi-culti je ne sais quoi, got it?, habibi Pan-Lebanese early 1970s.
Musically, while I was heavy rock and roll, I also loved Arabic pop and, God knows, French pop. Charles Aznavour, Francois Hardy and, ta-dah, the King Of French pop, Johnny Hallyday.
Hallyday was a rockabilly take on Francaise pop who grew into a major French balladeer and a legend in his homeland.
The last I heard, he was recovering from a heart attack in an L.A. hospital. And apparently he made a complete recovery because he is playing the Beacon Theatre on October 7th!! A Sunday, but we will have to suck it up. Tix go on sale Monday at 9am, though there is a presale.
