Mics Are For Swinging:Taking Back Sunday's "Tell All Your Friends"

I was on Twitter and noticed that the hashtag "TellAllYourFriends" was trending.  Apparently it was the 10 year anniversary of Taking Back Sunday's Tell All Your Friends on 26 March.  In honour of the fabulous record, that may I add came out when I was only five years of age, I put it on and reminisced.

TBS was one of my favourite bands for a really long time, and it's pretty great that they're on Warped Tour this year, too.  Listening to TAYF totally brought me back on a trip down memory lane.

"Bike Scene" is the first song that I really fell in love with on the album.  It always struck me as raw and totally old-school, and listening to it again now it's the same and just feels so much like a memory that it's addictive.  I honestly can't remember the last time I heard this tune, and now I just can't get enough.  TBS is so wondrously talented, and I totally regret allowing myself to forget that.  The way that all of the instruments and Lazzara's vocals mesh is done so gracefully in a way that only they could pull off.

I remember seeing the music video and falling in love with the song "Cute Without The 'E'".  When I first saw the vid, I hadn't ever seen Fight Club before, so I didn't understand the references.  Now that I have seen the film, the fact that the band is as big fans as I am of Fight Club it makes me appreciate it a lot more.  It's a brilliant song, too.  It was my absolute favourite song of all time for about a year; it's so powerful.  And now I can't stop watching the video and listening to the tune because I completely forgot how great they were.

"Great Romances Of The 20th Century" has some of the greatest riffs and instrument combinations in TBS' history.  It's so complex, and it's a wonderful symphony.  There's so much packed into the song, each time I listen to it, even now, I find something new to love.  There are only a few handful of bands that can do that.  The vocals are flawless and truly get the point of the song across, really putting the icing on the cake.

What a brilliant album.  It'll be on repeat for quite a while, now.
Happy birthday "Tell All Your Friends."
