Mod Sun Warped Tour Hartford CT Sunday July 22, 2012

I adore this kid and from the first time he (literally) fell off his tour bus in Boston and threw his arms around me like I was his long lost mother at the Breathe Carolina show, I have had a soft spot for the little white rapper who oozes positivity like a pierced jello mold

Randy Blythe; Doubled Bail Still in Jail

Its hard for Americans to fathom, I mean we bitch over the smallest infraction but when all is said and done and least we know where we stand with the law. In other countries its at the whim of a choice few and the ‘we dont like your kind’ mentality can run amuck.

Happy Birthday Spotify!

Spotify has enhanced its service but entering the Android market and adding a free radio stream, that alone is worth the nod. Pandora and I heart Radio are weak and predictable, Spotify offers so much more and that on top of the incredibly endless supply of new old and obscure tunes. I am completely addicted to Spotify radioPandora and I heart Radio are weak and predictable, Spotify offers so much more and that on top of the incredibly endless supply of new old and obscure tunes. No Doubt “Settle Down” Video Review

The sound is fantastic a ska-like dance tune with Gwen offering up her own ‘hollah’ backing vocals. Way cool. No Doubt hasn’t aged- no doubt hasn’t changed a bit. They sound exactly the same and without any tweak or experimentation. The band is just back-right where they left off.

David Bowies "John I'm Only Dancing" Picture Disc

Recorded too late for inclusion on the ‘Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars’, it was considered for the following year’s ‘Aladdin Sane’, but never made it on to the final running order. It’s hard to imagine but in researching this oddity it appears to be true.

Barry Gordy's "MOTOWN" Planned For Broadway

Need a job? The show is in casting and at present are looking for someone ot play a single actor who can take on three roles in the play, the pre-teen Barry Gordy, Little Stevie Wonder and the young Michael Jackson. Yeah, thats should be easy to find

Quadrophenia , The Who On Tour

Think about that for a moment. This band whose surviving members are knocking on age 70 will be performing an album they released 39 years ago. The album is a rock opera, a phrase no longer used which basically means a story telling album.

Sting? Yeah, Theres An App For That

I didn’t even realize that Sting had an app but he does and he just improved it. Upgraded Sting. We joke about Bono being a tool but we really don’t give Sting enough credit for being an egotistical knob.

Lana Del Rey, The Face of H&M

Lana will be the poster child for the discount clothier appearing in their ads for their autumn collection. There are certain performers that simply are born for a gig- this one is a perfect example,

Motion City Soundtrack Tour Dates

Coming off a ridiculously successful tour, the guys are finally getting the acknowledgement they deserve- but they deserve even more. We had the great honor of speaking with them at Warped Tour and it seems that since that time critical acclaim is headed their way.

Bringing Sassy Back: The B52's

“Dance this Mess Around” was so sexy and sultry and a proclamation to not being cheese “WHY WONT YOU DANCE WITH ME? IM NOT A LIMBURGER” poor dairy product. Fred is so hysterical in this with ‘the shy tuna’ and ‘do he hypocrite’, I had no idea he was gay.

White Stripes Rarities From 'The Vault"

Having seen them live and hearing them recorded I can say with conviction, they were greater than they were ever given credit for. It is also a great thing that they ended abruptly. Bands like that should be flashes of greatness. It leaves a cleaner image

Countdown To Warped Tour: Hartford CT July 22, 2012

The atmosphere is electric and the chaos is contagious. I simply love the entire thing (other than the freaking heat) and as a seasoned veteran now I can clearly say you must prepare. Not tour goes by when I glance over to see some idiot in heels falling over and beet red.

Ian Hunter To Release New Album

At age 73 I suppose there is a whole lot of life to look back on. The new album due out September 4, 2012, Hunter will release “When I’m President” his 20th album of original songs, and the latest highlight in a career full of awesome tunes like ‘All The Young Dudes,’ ‘All the Way From Memphis”.

Neil Diamond 'Hot August Night' 40th Anniversary

70’s easy listening love songs are no longer in fashion which may be the reason I simply adore Neil Diamond. He is a Saturday Night Live parody act, not quite Lawrence Welk but giggle worthy just the same. The interesting thing is he is still very much in favor with many and is about to release a 40th anniversary album.

Television Lite: July 16-July 21, 2012

This is a great thing, there are new things to discover rather than yet another week of Steven Tylers and fun. Seems a bit country heavy but hey, this is summer in America and for some reason that become synonymous with twang.

The Moms, "Bedtime" Video Review

Our touring diary writer Donny Saraceno has become an interesting member of the rocknyc family. His daily reports often set me up on my motherly heels buncha crazy kids in a van sleeping wherever all careless. But in the midst of the bands daily adventures I neglected something that I am shocked about. I have forgotten to explain to you all how really talented this band is.

Jack White "Freedom at 21" Video Teaser

The song is one of the top three on ‘Blunderbus’, but really is there value to videos after the album has been out this long? There is no longer a forum (ahem..MTV) to showcase music video so I cant help but wonder why such expense is gone to for promotion

Cyndi Lauper: A Memoir

Sometimes I Come Off Good, sometimes not so good but I never wanted this book to be anything but my truth. It’s not about what people think of me, but what I learned along the way. And if telling the story of what I went through can help someone else, then it’s worth it.”

Lamb of God's Randy Blythe Still In Jail

Why is this not infuriating people yet? Better yet why do so many ‘big media’ people chose not to cover one of the most unjust legal issues in rock and roll. Is Lamb of God just not big enough? Is it because he isn’t dead?

No Doubt "Settle Down" Teaser Nonsense

What this doesn’t tell me is what direction the older No Doubt has gone. Is Gwen still singing teenaged love songs are they keeping that ska undertone (note horns)? Well I suppose that’s why they call these ‘teasers’.

Bringin Sassy Bach: Joe Jackson "Beat Crazy"
