Kan Wakan At Amoeba, Wednesday June 18th 2014

I just hope that this time I will be able to keep these videos on YouTube a little bit longer than last time: I filmed them at the Echoplex back in February, and the video got more than 40,000 views!! I got in trouble with YouTube for ‘TOS violation’ as YouTube probably noticed some unusual large activity on the account

Watain Douse Fans In Pigs Blood and The Crowd Pukes

Is it just for attention? Is it adrenaline, stupidity, desperation? I guess the theatrics are something I will never understand but what I can tell you with full conviction is if some band threw blood on me, security would be very busy pulling me off the stage as I kicked their asses.

1976 – A+ List

“Anarchy in the U.K.,” The Sex Pistols. In November of ’76, a sea change occurred in the U.K. music scene as Johnny Rotten introduced himself as an anti-Christ/anarchist. While Rotten was declaring his goal to destroy passersby, the multi-tracked guitar of Steve Jones roared in violent agreement with the sentiment.

Fear the Earworm

I had this one bit from the Lumineers’ cover of “This Must Be the Place,” a song I really liked, go through my head over and over for WEEKS, until I was ready to take an electric drill to my skull. After that, I couldn’t hear that song without gagging a little. Chekhov, with that nasty larvae-thing in his ear, probably didn’t feel much worse.

One More Time! Jack White Is A Jerk- Suddenly Apologizes

He also claims he “personally championed” Meg White for 15 years, but then apologized, took everything back, and wrote a formal letter saying sorry with his tail between his legs. The man’s grown into a bitter cow who’s too busy falling in love with his own work to respect anyone else. I’m, very unfortunately, disgusted.

I am guessing, just guessing, that the dynamic duo maybe ruffling a few feathers. They certainly don’t play anything close to the Aquilante game, if they don’t like you it doesn’t matter how big you are, they’ll rip you to pieces. You’d think Col would be happy with it after all of Dan’s asskissing

Gerry Goffin Dead At 77

The great pop lyricist Gerry Goffin, who wrote the words to so many of Carole King’s greatest compositions, is dead at 77. Goffin was responsible for some 40 Top 10 Hits and the man was a true poet, unless you don’t think “Some Kind Of Wonderful” was true poetry

Joyce Manor "Schley" Track Review

It’s pretty bare bones and laid back, but when the lead guitar kicks in, it gains even more depth and the riff is unique and unlike anything the band’s ever produced before, but I love it. It’s so odd and shows them expanding their horizons, which is awesome to see.

So it turns out that Cold War Kids’ Nathan Willett and Matt Maust have a side project with We Barbarians’ Nathan Warketin! They even have a debut LP ‘Is Exotic Bait’ out soon, on July 8th via Frenchkiss Records, and a free residency at the Satellite this month. I got the chance to see them and totally enjoyed a high-energy show with trumpet, sax and multicolor-hair back-up singers.

As bad as Lazeretto is, the vinyl sounds awesome: it plays backwards and forwards, there is a holagram of an angel, alternative songs depending on where you put the needle down. The result? The vinyl alone sold an astonishing 40,000 copies and vinyl alone? White would have been at # 4 on the charts. Meanwhile, that country album? Painfully bad.
