I’ve met Marissa Paternoster a coupla times, went to a concert in her basement (she wasn’t there but it is the thought that counts), and she has always been very nice to me. On stage with Screaming Females she looks like the creepy dead again kid who has been haunting the school corridors since the other children teased her and she fell out the window and they hid her death from the authorities and buried her in the back back beneath the willow tree in 1854 and ever since than children have gone missing.
But in real life, she is more like a black haired Dennis The Menace.
So, I’m a big fan of both of her bands, Screaming Females and Noun, and of her paintings which you can now buy off her directly or via Don Giovanni records (speaking of whom, Joe Steinhardt promised to write something about Peter Stampfel for us and never came through).
Here is the press release:
“Those familiar with the label are surely familiar with Marissa Paternoster who has done art for many of our bands including her own band Screaming Females and has also released an art book through the label. She recently launched her own website, marissapaternoster.com and has started selling her own art directly. This signed and numbered lithograph is the first piece she is selling and it is incredible. We will also be helping her sell the prints through our site. They are a bit expensive, but are also really cheap for what you are getting. These are fine art prints and are HUGE hand printed lithographs on very nice paper suitable for framing and collecting. The 100 #d editions of her book sold in less than 24 hours and I imagine these might sell fast as well, especially as many are already spoken for through her own site.
You can purchase one from us here, or Marissa here (but she will recieve the same amount of money either way as we are just helping her with fullfilment).
